Hey everyone, just bought a truck from auction and battery was dead, replaced the battery, checked all fluid levels and went to crank, kept cranking and almost sounds like it wants to turn over, but doesn't. Check engine light was on and I hooked up to my computer, the Throttle actuators stick position code came on, p2112. Would this cause my truck to not start? As opposed to starting and just having a rough idle? I’m stumped and afraid it could be worse.

Thanks, don’t have the manual, but I looked up the troubleshooting. This would require the $60 sensor behind the motor to be changed. Would my attempted start potentially just sound like a whine? I’m not opposed to changing it, just wanted to know if there was a way to check if it was closed without removing the whole Throttle position accutator. And wanted to k ow the likelihood of it being this problem.

tps on a 3.4 is easy to remove and replace. just use a stubby screwdriver. they do wear out, it's a rather simple POT and just ages with use
and causes much nightmares if (a) old and worn (b) if you use aftermarket (been down that road). OEM is definitely the way to go with that part

Just a suggestion. I heard the tps can be cleaned of mild corosion in the wiper mechanism by closing and opening the throttle many times. It might clean up. Worth a shot....
