Drove home fine, went to start the next morning but nothing. Figured it was my fuel pump, replaced it, still nothing. At one point it would start briefly after a lot of cranking and would imediatly die. Cleaned the TB, did a TB reset (3 slow gas pedal depressions with ignition on, key off, then restart) still nothing, won't even attempt to start. Also, the throttle body makes an odd, almost grinding noise when the gas pedal is depressed (only when key is on) and a high pitched "electical on" type noise when key is on without the pedel depressed. Make sence?

check fuel pressure? pull a spark plug coil and insert screwdriver, hold it close to ground and see if spark jumps while cranking...start with the basics, got gas in the tank?

Yes there's gas in it and it will fire briefly if I spray a little TB cleaner in the intake so it's getting spark

OP, you said you replaced the pump. Was it an OEM or Denso pump? Also, please share how much junk was accumulated around the sock surrounding the pump if you will.

you can also losein the fuel rail connector and crank to purge of any air. I'd double check fuel flow to the engine

Start with the cleaning / tightening of the battery terminals then have the battery and alternator load tested.

You do know that pressing the Accelerator Pedal doesn't do anything on a fuel injected engine that isn't running.

If it starts with starting fluid etc you need to check fuel pressure and delivery.

It's not the brand new battery or terminals, I understand that the pump accelerator isn't working if the engine isn't running. However I do see thats it's all essentially connected....accelerator to a other vacuum solenoid (not sure what it is) to the pressure regulator etc.. it's definitely a fuel delivery issue but where? As of a couple hours ago, I disconnected the fuel lines at the tank and got a huge bast of pressurized gas so I would guess to think the brand new pump is making good pressure? Now to the question about the condition of the screen from the old fuel pump. About 3 months ago, somebodys scorned ex girlfriend mistook my pickup from her boyfriends and dumped a bag of sugar in my gas tank. It gradually plugged up my screen to the point that it eventually wouldn't suck enough fuel to idle. I did not replace the pump but rather washed it out with water and everything worked fine if not better then ever. Could I have possibly sucked up enough suger to plug or ruin something else beyond the pump, 3 months later?

Also, I did get it to fire briefly several times after a lot of cranking. It started one time like it normally would and went to normal idle...for about l10 seconds then died and wouldn't restart

What is this? The Rest of the Story with Paul Harvey?

    Sugar.

Your fuel injectors are probably full of crap and the fuel system could use a good cleaning.

    No kidding.

I would have made a police report.
Then taken it to a shop, let them figure it out.
Then let her worry with the bill.

The worst part about sugar in the gas is if it makes it's way to the combustion chamber, where it will turn into a burnt goo mess, requiring a rebuild. Lets hope nothing made it that far!

But I'm sure you filed a police report when it happened. The first thing I would do now is to take her to civil court to ensure she pays for every possible repair to your truck, including pulling the heads for inspection. She probably owes you a minimum of $10K in damages.

    Unfortunately you are right.
Buy the time you add up the expenses to get it fixed.
Like lost work, time spent getting it fixed, and going to court.
You’ll be in 2x the expense, with a judgment covering just the cost of the truck.

I wish people would understand when you commit a crime against someone.
There is more to it than the crime. It all the other stuff that goes with it.

Anyone that has ever had a vehicle stolen, will know what I’m talking about.

...like at all the injector screens??

Also, I'm becoming less and less of a fan of aftermarket parts especially anything electrical. The days of the aftermarket being being better are long gone IMHO and and will only use OEM/Denso for a fuel pump. Life is just too short.

Way off the point here. Yes, it should be someone else's problem and they should have to answer to the law snd pay the repair bill etc etc. But that's not going to happen, I don't even know who the skank is l I know is that it happened and now it's my problem. I can't afford to haul it to the mechanics and have them go through the same steps I'm TRYING to take myself. I'm not looking for the should've, could've, would've answers, I'm looking for help to find the issue. Thanks Taco bro's
