    Hello,

I have a '01 Taco 2.7L. It cranks over but will not start. It's not the starter and battery is fine. I am thinking it may be the fuel pump. Looking at the pictures below is this a good place to see if fuel is going to the engine? As I start it I don't see any fuel coming out of that hose. Please advise, thanks.

Good question. Usually it seems folks loosen the fitting going into the fuel rail, no? Can't memba off hand.

That's doesn't look like a fuel line (or I may be wrong). By the way, what is that bunch of broken wires on the picture?:notsure:

Yes, that looks like the fuel pressure regulator. With the fuel pump running the excess fuel should come out of there. Try pulling the starter relay, turning the key to start and listening for the fuel pump running. Sorry, I don't know where the starter relay is off the top of my head.

I will try that and listen for the fuel pump to see if it's working. I also sprayed starting fluid inside the throttle body and the truck started up for a sec and died out. Which further leads me to believe it's a fuel issue.

Do these Tacomas have a separate fuel pump relay aside from the EFI fuse? Is so I can check that but don't know where it's located. Thanks.

The fuel pump is powered by "Circuit Opening Relay" located under the dash (left side near the Body ECU) and EFI Relay, fused by EFI Fuse (15A or 20A depends on model). EFI relay control is fused by Ignition fuse.
Fuel pump ("Circuit Opening Relay")is turned on by Engine ECU (FC connector).

Thanks guys for all the advice. Replaced the fuel pump with the Denso brand and the Taco is up & running
