I have a 14 DC V6 4X4. I have 3 inch lift running 33x12.5 Mud terrains. I have never gotten better the 14 MPG. If i give it hell i get around 11 MPG if I baby it I get 14 or less. This does not sounds right to me. I know I have over sized tires but >14 is crazy shitty? what do you get with your set up?

It’s normal. You won’t get any better. I’m running King’s 2.5-3” and 285’s and Armor skids/sliders and I am lucky if I get 13 mpg. If you search the forums you will see this is common. The heavy tires play a huge part. If you had a different tire. Skinnier and not e rated it will help in mpg but it’s form over function and all about what your end goal is. 2nd gen’s don’t do well when we drop all the stuff onto the rig.

you have a lift and larger tires...14mpg seems about right...Toyota's mpg is only advertised at 16 city and 19 hwy....so your mpg seems perfect given your mods...want better mpg? take off the lift and put street tires on.

also try a search...this has been asked/complained about 100s of times.

it has a lot to do with who is driving it. For me, I baby the hell out of it and I get about 14, the same as you do but when my son drives the same damn truck he gets a consistent 16 with it.

I get about the same... all stock except 265/70r17 BFG AT KO2's. I have a 6 speed, i wish the final gear ratio was a little higher to drop the rpsm on the highway. The bigger problem is that I typically find myself driving 15 min of highway each way to work much faster than I should (85-95).

You have the largest Tacoma model, with the heaviest drivetrain and the largest engine. Plus a lift. Plus oversized tires, and they are mud tires. Even if you drive granny-style, 14 MPG is typical for your setup. Either change your rig or live with 14 MPG.

I get around 23 MPG average. Up to 28 on long highway runs and probably 18 around town. I have a 2006 2.7L access cab 2wd automatic, 99% factory stock, fine the way it is, never had anything wrong that needs fixing.

If our trucks are good for one thing, it's having full size gas mileage with a mid size truck.

My truck is basically stock and I get 13 when I tow a 3800 lb boat. 17 is common... 19+ if it's all freeway.

    I can still get 17-18 if I drive good. I have a 3" lift and Standard load 265/70/18's, basically a 33x10.50

    2009 AC cab 4x4 with 2.7 5 speed with stock tires 245's I was getting 20.5 - 21. Winter gas and I dropped down to 19 - 19.5. Then I added a 3" lift and 265/75 R16 and I'm between 16 and 20. I drive 100 miles a day and the vast majority of it is 70 MPH. If i drive the speed limit it's 16 if I keep it below 65 it's 20 mpg.
