Well, got a call from the RV dealer today. The new 2017 travel trailer that I am/was in the process of buying has some pretty serious water intrusion. It is bad enough that they are probably going to be sending it back to the manufacturer for a frame off rebuild. The water entered through the rear marker lights, went down the walls and into the floor. All the insulation in the back has to get replaced and the floor/subfloor has to get replaced.

I got approved for the trailer ($17k), and put a $500 down payment to hold it til the first of next month when I was going to go and sign paperwork. Now, I'm not entirely sure if I want to go get my deposit back, or go through with buying it when it gets rebuilt. Generally, I'd drive straight to the dealer and get my $ back, but the trailer is the best fit out of all the trailers I looked at. 24', 4000lbs, with a shower I can actually stand up in with headroom.
If I go through with it, it does give me some wiggle room for additional negotiations. If I don't, I'd probably end up waiting a year to up the down payment I could put down on a 2018.

Can you get your deposit back and look for the same trailer on another lot? Or is it custom or something?

Seems like you should be getting a "refurbished" price on a rebuilt trailer, maybe?

Unfortunately, they are the only dealer that has that model in OR. I talked to a couple other who say they have the brand, but not the model. I already told the salesman that IF I get it, there will need to be some compensation (parts & accessories). Right now, I'm waiting for them to find out for sure if the manufacturer will be taking it back to rebuild or if they will be doing it at the dealers shop. I also told him to get me a hard timeline.

If that's the trailer for you, and you're going to keep it forever I say work out a refurbished price and buy it!

Got my $ back. Going to wait for the 2018s. Tried to work out a deal to get the one that will get a frame off factory refurbish, but it wasn't in the cards. Just not worth it to me to get it without some extra incentives. So, I'll wait.

Already did. Waiting for them to get a 2018 in (manufacturer has corrected the assembly/design flaw that caused the issue on 2016-17 models). It a Venture Sonic 210VRD.
