So I installed the Crawford Performance spacer. It made sense because lights cost way more than this small part, and since the claims were positive, I bought it. Regardless of true world dyno #'s and data facts whatever. That being said, there is something going on in there (motor) that's different. I don't know exactly, but the butt-dyno likes the smoother operation. Idles smoother, less gear changing (automatic) and smoother power delivery when stomping the skinny pedal. I'm on my first full tank of premium unleaded and will see if I get better mileage?? Of course, I'll also be installing new sparkies, so I'm probably not going to worry too much about it. All I know is that it is running smoother than what it was and before I forget, I don't have a full on air intake system, only a replacement K/N filter with a removed charcoal filter.... Just my opinions and seat of the butt-dyno feel from installing this part.... We'll chime back in later after a few more fill-ups.... Cheers!!!!

all you are feeling is a 100% placebo effect.

I bought one for shits n giggles. And while YES its claim of making the maf sensor see less airflow is true, you have to understand that the ECU will make up for this.

Without the spacer in, long term fuel trims settle around 2-3% at most. With the spacer in, those long term fuel trims were up around the 10-12% mark. It was OBVIOUS that the ecu was going hmm something is going on here, im reporting less airflow, but im running lean, so i need to add more fuel to get back to my desired AFR as see at the first oxygen sensors.

Needless to say, things like the spacer are going to be 100% counteracted by the ECU rather quickly.

According to Crawford and the 200-something paged thread, you really don't have to, but can if you feel the need. I unplug everytime I install something electrical, so eventually, I will.

just wondering because disconnecting the neg battery terminal alone can have some effects like you are describing.
forces ecu to relearn parameters I believe, and also makes the transmission shift differently.

Gotcha.... No I didn't disconnect... All this is from the part alone....

I was in a hurry during install and just figured I'd void disconnecting and see what the truck would feel/act like.. So far so good.... It's not a light, and it has positive outcomes with less cost...

I haven't noticed any difference in the butt dyno, but I have seen a slight increase in gas milage.

That slight increase is the main objective of this part. For the money and for the most part, you can't go wrong... Just my .2c

ugh.... again guys, you are not going to see any proper mpg increases... the ecu trims fuel up to compensate for the improper reading at the maf sensor. Any "increase" you see is going to be strictly the difference in environmental changes.

With the spacer my Long term fuel trims are in the +2% to +3%. I averaged .8-1.3 mpg better with it on, than without it. Over two years of driving with it and without it, led to my findings. I wanted to make sure it wasn't due to summer gas versus winter gas. I am running a snorkel, but do not think it effected anything, because I didn't see a change. I am on month two after installing an XTP manifold spacer, and so far, it looks like its providing an increase in mpg too, only time will tell. I don't have the wide band in right now, but when it was, it was reading 14.82 afr, so just a touch lean in closed loop.

Maybe it isn't a proper increase and all due to climate change?
