Ok OP...Changing tires should not affect the crawl control characteristics since it uses the wheel/ abs sensors to detect slippage or loss of traction. The brains of the CC system can input/ output via the sensors and axles to bias power, to any corner that may need it along with using the brakes to control wheelspin.

This is all without input from your skinny pedal and your right foot. This is supposed to be 12 minutes & 5 modes of continuous Crawl control (IIRC) use while the only thing you do is steer the dang truck.

It should be no different than driving from wet to dry pavement. If you change overall tire sizes, recalibration of the speedo is recommended and the tire size variance is usually 3%.

If you have tires that create more grip, of course it will affect the crawl control/ traction, it just won't work it as hard.

No, it wasn't a trick question to get you to post ihere... of course I don't want to get anyone booted again. You can PM me if you'd like so I know not to repeat.

They make some nice smaller sizes in a more moderate tread. My next tires will be X3s just to give them a try

Open Country's will definitely not work with crawl control. The system uses pulsations to gently extract the truck from inevitable doom. The frequency of the pulsations only work with the lug spacing of stock tires. There is one aftermarket tire that is compatible with the pulsations:

    Super Swamper Thornbirds

    image.jpg

When Toyota's chief designer, Tokuo Fukuichi, visited the San Antonio plant, he fell in love with the southern culture. Monster trucks, bbq, and Thornbirds. He specifically designed crawl control's pulsations to also match the lug pattern of these tires, and these tires only.

I know- it's pretty fucked up. But totally true.
