I use CC quite often, but found it is jerky and noisy if the first 2 CC speed selections are used. I use CC speed setting 4 or 5 most of the time.

On '10-'19 460.... menu to enable MTS is a buried submenu off of a steering wheel control. They moved it to using the crawl speed switch on 2020 models. Of course if you have a stock US 10-19 460 you have to retrofit it to get MTS. MTS is now an optional stock offering in 2020 in US.

I would say get the OR. The money savings can get you the suspension and mods you want over the pre determined factory ones.

Back to your question. I haven’t NEEDED either, but when going up a very steep hill both of them help. I was doing that for fun, so I did not NEED to do that, I definitely dont need them when camping at the beach or what not, but for that specific obstacle I did need it. I dont camp at difficult to access places so Im sure there are some people who would need it, mostly the locker. Dish out a little extra and get the OR instead of the 4x4 SR5. Also, the crawl control will help you when you’re in a difficult situation that you would rather let the truck do it instead of risking being off worse.

I'll be adding mts and cc to my wife's 460. Too bad it's not that easy for the Tacoma as far as I can tell.

I have had (2) 2nd gens and I opted to upgrade to a 3rd gen. Not one regret especially with the savings I found on a left over 19.

I almost bought a pro but instead picked up a OR premium and took the money saved and upgraded to Kings and other goodies

Off road means different things to different people.

Class A - I off road on Black Friday when the mall parking is full and the grass next to the closed down Chili's is the only place to park.

Class B - I off road when I drive to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving down a long gravel driveway.

Class C - I purposely go off road at a park with classified trails and am begining.

Class D - I am considering budget conscious mods so I can keep up with a group who I met that has been doing it longer.

Class E - I am starting to get into this off road hobby and want to invest in quality mods to improve performance and safety.

Class F - I am building a purpose built rig.

Class G - only a tracked vehicle with or without long cannon will do.

Class H - adaptive gravity response will be a critical function as we pass planets of variable mass that require specialized equipment.

So you will likely find yourself between C & D, but can upgrade through E in the Taco.

When I bought a TRD OR, the locker became my plan B, CC became plan C, and I added a winch for plan D.

I cannot stress to you enough the benefit staying in your cab and of not having to use the winch if CC gets you unstuck in mud or snow.

I have to go plus 1 for the cc. I too thought it was lame and gimmicky. Then I was on a hunting trip, steep hill and about a foot of fresh snow, came up to a spot where everyone had to turn around. I tried it a couple times and I too had to turn around. For the heck of it I threw it in CC. I was like WTF???? I went another 3 miles up the trail. I was a little embarrassed at my driving skills but basic I just couldn’t keep a consistent “cruise control “ at 1 mph.
I have now learned, in the right conditions it doesn’t make any weird noises. Works perfectly. If it’s making those noises you are not in the correct mode.

That's incorrect, do you think ABS is being used wrong when it makes noise because you have to slam on your brakes?
