Interesting thread. I signed up just for this discussion. I have a 2020 TRD Off Road built 12/19 in Baja Mexico. I am also having crawl control problems. I'm in flat Houston, Texas so I ran test against a 6.5 inch curb. With the truck facing the curb and about 2 feet back from the curb crawl control in 1 & 2 could not get over the curb. In 3,4, & 5 crawl control went right over the curb no problem. Next I moved the truck to the starting point of having my 2 front tires touching the curb and went through crawl control 1,2,3,4, & 5. Crawl control could not get over the curb in any setting from that starting point of having the front tires against the curb at start. And it deactivated each time it couldn't get over the curb.

I have 7,300 miles on the truck and will be taking in for it's 10,000 mile check up and at that time will see if the dealer will address the issue. Judging from this thread the dealer is gonna jerk me around.

The performance of crawl control on my Tacoma is unacceptable to the point of useless if it can't get over a 6.5 inch curb.

    Thanks for the thread!

EDITED TO ADD: I went and found a incline to test my truck in a dry retention pond with a 20 foot 18 degree incline. Put crawl control on setting 3 at the base of the incline and it went up over it no problem. That's all I tested. It was illegal for me to be driving in that pond.

Haven't checked on this thread in a few weeks and it sucks to learn that this hasn't been resolved yet. As I've mentioned before, for all pre-20's, and half of the 20's to work just fine leads me to believe there is something amiss with those that aren't working correctly. A calibration, sensor or software issue seem to be most likely based on what's been posted so far. There has to be a way for Toyota to make this right?

For those who haven't seen my earlier post, my 2020 TRD Pro, built in Texas 10/19, worked just fine going up a rocky, twisted, off camber, with varying levels of pitch w/o an issue. In fact, it handled this stretch in the exact same fashion as my 2017 T4R TRD Pro. I'll take some more notes the next time I use it in an attempt to provide more info for those with INOP CC's, but for now I appear to be good to go.

I have a request of those who have 2020s that work and pre-2020s that work. Would you please do a curb test? Put the truck with the two front tires against a ~6 inch street curb on level ground and test crawl control 1,2,3,4,5. Then do the same crawl control test starting the truck about 1-2 feet off the curb.

    My results were:

Against the curb: All 1-5 settings failed to climb the curb.
1-2 feet off the curb: 1 & 2 failed and 3,4,5 succeeded to climb over the curb.

    Thanks!

Can you test it against a regular street curb? Front wheels against the curb (CC 1-5), then front wheels starting about 1-2 feet back (CC 1-5).

I pulled the DTC's on mine this weekend, nothing of relevance. I debated doing the zero point calibration, but it's been years since I've used Techstream so I didn't try. Probably try some better data logging first to see what the data shows.

I drove a brand new off the truck Tacoma trd-offroad the other day. Guess what? It doesn’t work. I bet Toyota changed this due to safety issues or some lawsuit.

I have an update. I had said mine worked fine based on a proper 4-wheeling trail. Pretty good incline and stopping at some bigger rocks with a wheel against it. With both wheels stopped against a curb in a parking lot it will not crawl over it on any setting. Move back a foot or so and it works in all settings. I guess since it works out on the trail over rocks, getting out of low spots where one wheel is off the ground etc....I am not to worried about it. The chances off getting both front wheels stuck up against six inch rocks at the same time and not being able to back up or use some gas pedal is about none. Not sure what other use cases may arise though. I hate that noise anyhow and believe I would try the locker instead of crawl mode if needed. Maybe they will have a fix at some point but who knows!!

Funny because it was at a mall here in the no longer Sears Parking lot at an island with bushes and rocks. Nobody was around so........

I’ll never know if mine works because I can guarantee you I’ll never use it. That feature had no bearing on my purchase whatsoever.

I didn’t even now it was a feature when I bought mine in May. I found it while reading the manual. The sound it makes and the feel of it makes it a last resort for me for sure.

I only used it once in my T4R and once in the Tacoma to ensure that it worked. I'm not too concerned about ever needing it, but if there were a problem with it I would get it fixed in the event that when I sold it, it became an issue due to it not working.

If there were at least they didn’t deploy the guns!! I had a 2008 FJ and just loved it....part of the reason I went with the Taco.

That’s exactly what our 2020 does.
My 2017 TRD Off Road, has no problem with overcoming this.

Just tested my 2020 DCLB made 2/20. Crawl control couldn't get over a standard residential curb in any setting without me applying gas. Not sure how much this issue matters, but it would be nice for it to run properly.

Was the crawl control applied before you were in contact with the curb or were you right against it?
