There were some but not a lot, I'll try to find a different place to test it again.

Just tried my 2019 on 8x8 heavy timbers front and back and it walked over it like a champ. A growling drunk champ.

If only the 20s and 21s would do that too...

Mine is a ‘19 but I got curious since I’ve never used it on a really long, steep incline. There is a really rough, rutted steep one that is all loose sand and gravelly. It’s actually kinda scary. Very good test for this sort of thing. I’m happy to report my truck went up so smoothly it actually made it look easy. Tried it in every speed setting.

At least someone at Toyota is finally admitting what we have suspected, something was done - and seemingly intentionally so.

To be sure, this is not the first they've heard of it. Somebody on here even requested a buy back due to this change.

To be fair from what another member described on a 2019 vs 2020, it would be easy to see how CC could get someone into trouble if it didn't turn off at steep angles that could roll the truck.

I checked out Crawl Control yesterday in my 2020 Off Road. I was in a gravel parking lot at the USNWC in Charlotte, NC that has 6x6 or 8x8 timbers as parking lot row dividers. It wouldn't go over them in position 2, rolled up to them and stopped. In position 3 it crawled right over them with no issues at all. I guess you could say mine works. I'll probably never need it though.

One of the first things I did was test the crawl control when I bought my 19 Pro T4R last year, put the tires up against a curb at my work...holy **** when I let off the brake I swear it felt like the computer said hold my beer watch this and gave it the beans, just launched my front end in the air and slammed back down and kept crawling along. 27k miles later I still havent had any issues nor have I heard of this problem till a buddy asked me about it when his 2020 was kicking him out of CC.

I tested my 2021 OR yesterday in the dirt, it didn’t work up hills or if there was any type of resistance, pretty sad.

Just tried the CC in my 2021 OR with the front tires up against an 8” or so curb and it crawled right up the 1st time in #1 speed no problem. Then it wouldn’t do it in any other speed position. Went back to #1 and it wouldn’t do it the 2nd time. Drove around a bit and then tried it against the curb in #3 and it crawled right up ion its own. Then wouldn’t do it in any other positions (or in #3 a 2nd time). So, mine works randomly when it feels like it. In all positions though, it would crawl the up curb without issue if I tapped the gas a tiny bit. It’s like it just needs a little tap, like a spur to a horse to tell it it do its thing, then it takes over. Wondering if the others with this issue have noticed this?

I honestly never thought I’d use CC much id at all anyways (except maybe to get unstuck in sand as a last resort, etc..). I’m more old school and like to be in full control of my truck anyways, plus the CC is ridiculously noisy and clunky, I would never use it under normal circumstances. The locker is why I got the OR. That said, it still should work as advertised and Toyota should answer for changing it without telling anyone (including their own dealers and techs). I think if I got stuck in sand like the Tacome demo video, my CC would still work like the truck in the video, the only difference is I might just need to tap the gas initially to get things going, then let it do its thing. I won’t be selling my truck or anything over this (which I really love after 3 weeks of owning it), but I wouldn’t mind if Toyota does fix it to work like previous models.

I used cc on my 2020 OR on some lava rock on the big island and it works fine, rather put it in 4 low on most tougher stuff until I test it some more and learn to deal with the brake shudder but still a cool option.

2020 offroad, crawl control won't drive over a curb at any speed setting. Has anyone had any luck with the dealer actually doing anything?

I’m quoting myself because I just tried it again today and it worked in all 5 CC speeds crawling up the same curb as a few days ago, this time without any issues. But the difference was I had the rear locker engaged this time. Then I tried it without the locker and it was hit and miss again. So my truck’s CC seems to work 100% like it’s supposed to if the locker is on, and only sometimes when it’s off. Weird, but I thought I’d share this info.

I need to give that a shot when it's not midnight and my brakes aren't clacking like my truck's teeth aren't quivering from the cold.

Although, I don't see how locking the rear would help... But hey, if it works then you just made a lot of people a tiny bit happier.

Ya, I don’t know why the locker should make a difference either. But try it out, I’d like to hear if it’s just my truck or if they maybe changed something within the system in the last year to work with the locker? I’m wondering if maybe it has to do with wheel spin... Like if you’re stuck in the sand like Toyota’s CC demo and the wheels can spin freely the CC works well without the locker, but if you’re up against something like a curb or a rock and there’s resistance against the wheels, maybe it thinks the locker should be on before the system gives it throttle? Just thinking out loud on why it might be that the locker made the difference for my truck.

I think everyone that has crawl control has the locker.

Me too. I’m wondering if it’s just my truck or if maybe I stumbled upon a work around for this issue.

In my experience with my 20, the locker being engaged made no difference.
