Well......a debate is raging in my mind about that exact question. I know a lot of guys say K02s suck in the winter, and others say they are great. They worked great on the way up!

On the subject of the descent, I am sure a dedicated snow tire would have been better when I slid down the hill, but I wonder if the K02s somehow also made it worse. I’m not going back to test my theory with other tires.....that’s for sure. I really can’t say, but my confidence in them as a snow tire is a little shaken.

In my 2006 2wd 4runner with highway tires I did something similar. My wife and I were exploring the mountain that our cabin is on. It had lightly snowed the day before but most of it melted and it was above freezing.

We went up to the top and started to descend the other side, it started to get sketchy, narrow and steep, so we turned around and headed back up to the top. Nearly there, and a shady spot had a ton of wet leaves, on a corner, with a very steep slope off the side. The tires started to spin and slide towards the edge.

My girlfriend, now wife, got out and used a stick to scrape the leaves away so I could get to bare earth and get traction. After about 50 feet and 20 minutes of that we made it back to the top. :spy:

We went back this year with her Subaru Forester and had a blast exploring. A local rode past us on a 4wheeler and the look of shock on his face was priceless. Like, "what is a car doing up here?"

Wait I didn't type in trannyworld did I? Nope ... Had to check there for a minute. Hey man I'm glad everything came out in one piece. Sounds sketchy.

It’s TOE. TOE the party line. And I’m so sorry about your man-panties. Next time do what the rest of us do and Saran Wrap from your knees to your belly button, don’t use foil. Props for excellent application of crawl control.

Nice to have a fully equipped Tacoma, probably never use it but nice to know it's there. Nice to see it works in different situations.

it has its places where it can be useful.

I am yet to find one though but good to hear it works in snow, might give it some work in the upcoming snow run in January.

I tried it while rock crawling and it was useless.
That MTS though has been worth every penny. Works great on rocky terrain.

Thing is, its not new, nor is it a gimmick. Crawl Control has been in the Land Cruisers for some time now. It was even in the FJ Cruiser before. Toyota doesn't fuck around with the Land Cruiser, so you know if it came from an LC then its quality.
