In my case CC has saved me twice. Both in deep Florida mud that I could not get out of in 4L. CC was successful in both situations at getting me out of the mud. It did take several minutes in both cases. I'm a hunter and not a 4x4 driver. I do not spend my weekends working on 4x4 technique. I would say that I represent the majority of tacoma owners as in I am a novice 4x4 driver. For the majority of us our truck takes us to our activity, the journey there is not the activity we are pursuing. For those like me CC can and will save us which will allow us to pursue the activity we are actually trying to get to.

This has got to be the most negative forum I have ever been on lol! Trolls are everywhere! Tacomaworld? Trollworld? TacomaTrollworld?

Reading the responses it seems that CC may work a lot better in mud and sand than rocks.

Most likely, I think all the Toyota demonstrations were in sand as well

Yep, my usage in mud was a night and day difference from my usage over loose rock.

Spend more time on here. Your pragmatism will fade and your bitter sarcasm will bloom majestically. Give it time.

    7 minutes later... damn.

Well no wonder, I need to just go take a nap and come back when the truck gets out.

I admit I thought Toyota crawl control was a BS gimmick until I drove our work 4Runner that has it. It truely is magical. I have tried to get stuck. I haven't been able to. Is it worth the extra money VS my plain 4wd SR5? My wallets says no. But my heart says YES.

I think tfl did one on a rocky up hill climb, got stuck and crawl control didn't work for them either in that situation.
Even sand and mud can be a issue if you are up to the frame. There was a story/thread on here about a guy went to baja, got buried to the frame and cc didn't work and the truck broke itself trying to get out. Sand got in the actuator and he had to drive out in 4lo and then be towed to the dealer only to be denied warranty.

Got out of an insanely slushy mud hill in the back of the in-laws house in ME. Took a bit of finagling but got out just fine, everyone was worried and ready to call AAA. Best advertising for the trucks capabilities- but you still need to know what your doing.

Nice he provided proof it works in sand. Now, did it work coming out of the lake behind him?
