I have the crawl control on mine and to be honest...only time I have used it was to show the other TW guys what it does. Honestly, its junk if you know what your doing. Even on the fastest speed setting, it's way too slow. They call it crawl control for a reason lol. I am glad that I have it but I would only use it if I were to bury it in sand/mud and then need a way to get out.

If I could do it again...I would have ordered the Manual truck and left CC in the dust.

Manual Transmission has way less new generation issues. It's a pleasure to drive too. I have ZERO regrets.

I know where this particular package is sitting in Quicksand. Was leaning white then silver but the QS thread has me looking at that color as well.

Yeah TBH the manual is epic in these trucks. Especially if you put a URD short shift plate on, then its REALLY fun to drive. No crawl control, but honestly I feel like you'd be hard pressed to ever get a Taco stuck the way they do in the video unless you TRY to, just like they had to in the video. Overall you will love the truck more, have fewer problems, and feel like a boss in general with the manual. Sure, the auto comes with all sorts of assurances you'll never get stuck and stuff like that, and thats nice and all but how many times are you gonna be WTFO somewhere, alone, without a winch, or anything else to get yourself out with? If the answer to that question is about 0 times, then you have nothing to worry about! Get the manual, the decision is clear

Even crawl control can only do so much. Ever high centered on a snow drift?

if you get an AT truck then the decision to buy an MT only in the 3rd gen will be perfectly clear.

get a MT unless you live and die by crawl control and it's the primary reason you bought the truck.

Heh heh, this is a super old thread. I bought my 6-speed manual Tacoma at the end of 2015. I'm VERY happy with my decision.

I was never in a situation where crawl control would have helped me.

If you have a manual chances are slim it would get stolen...

I love the MT feel in this truck. I just got pedal commander and it's even more fun. There's a guy on 3rd gen Facebook group that owns a tuning shop and is releasing a tune for 3rd gen Tacomas. He's done many if the new Lexus' tunes as well.

Emailed Orangevirus tuning this morning. Their tune for the 2016-up Taco IS in the works, but is not complete yet. He said it will be advertised on the website as soon as the tune for our trucks is available

Lol I got a response from them yesterday. I'm excited for it. I think it'll open up our trucks and you'll be able to feel the difference. It did with my old Civic Si.

Yeah I just hope it doesn't mean reliability issues like lots of euro cars that get tunes. I have high hopes though

Well said sir. It's nice having your left leg resting and not dealing with the daily socal traffic with a manual.

I much prefer my manual over the auto. Way easier to get power when I want it. You don't really need CC either, just Chuck it in 4L in sketch stuff and it's basically automatic anyway. I have to TRY to stall the truck in 4L. Went wheeling last weekend and the truck did awesome. That said, I also know how to drive a stick without frying my clutch, I know a few other guys were burning theirs like crazy on the same trip

What benefit is there to the offroad vs the SR-5 if you get manual? Better shocks, skid plates...oh the locking rear diff! That's probably the big one.
