I have A-TRAC and DAC on my Tacoma (and Crawl is using the same mechanics, basically) so I am well aware of the bizarre sounds and other noise when operating, thank you!

Yup. I honestly thought the salesman broke something while demonstrating CC in the parking lot. Sounds like your getting ready to walk out from your little excursion.
I had a '14 Sport and thought I was never going to use it's simplistic 4X system over 50%. With the '16 OR in 4LO, I'm going to raise that to about 97% forget the MTS and CC.

So I was out in the desert looking for petroglyphs today and had the pleasure of using CC again.

    2016-04-10 12.55.17.jpg

We got stuck going up a pretty steep little hill. This was about a 150' hill climb on a 20%-25% grade. It was so steep in fact that my wife opted to get out and walk up. As I got to the top, the sand got really soft and I just dug in. I engaged the locker but this didn't help. So I backed down to make another run at it. This time I turned on CC and we cruised up pretty good. We started to lose traction again at the top but it did it's job and got us up. So, I'm liking the CC again. We didn't heat up the tranny or warp the drums this time. I've even been contemplating selling this and going to a manual. The only reason that I didn't was because of the CC. Well, I'm pretty glad that I had it yesterday. It worked exactly as advertised.

I have used them both at the same time. I typically use them independently of each other though. I don't remember if the owners manual addresses this or not.

Cool thanks I looked thru the owners manual and it just wasn't clear it wasn't listed as a step to or anything that had to be done to engage the crawl or visa versa so i wasn't whether or not to only run them independently since the crawl mode seems to work off individual wheel slippage

I haven't found a use for CC. But MTS is nice.

The locker is for emergency only... Use MTS (A-TRAC) always in Low Range. Crawl Control if you need or want. The chances are the locker is not ever needed... but if it helps (as it doesn't retard power), you have it in the hip pocket.

Does the Rubicon have any limited slip features like Toyota's 'TRAC', 'AUTO LSD', or 'TRAC OFF' traction control or are they just open differentials when not locked?

If crawl control modulates braking to each wheel independently and the locker locks both rear axles together, wouldn't you want to avoid using them both together?

Seems like you could put unnecessary stress on both the braking system and the rear drive components

When the rear is locked, A-TRAC (MTS now) is not active unless you are under 3 mph, or basically stuck/ stopped... and then it is only working on the front (when locked).

Just use the MTS/CRAWL (A-TRAC) and if fails to get you through, up, over... then lock the rear. As the sticker says, use only for emergency stuck.

That's what it thought! And why I was questioning it but if it was super serious or bad for the system seems like the there would be a warning in the manual about using in conjunction
