I just tried CC for the first time. Got my truck last Saturday and finally got it out on some dirt to test out all the off-road features. I am glad the creaking is normal.
In the video it creaks a bit at the start, crests the hill and creaks on the down slope.

I used it on steep rock and boulders in rock mode and the jerking movement caused the truck to buck like an out of balance washer on spin cycle - if I let it continue it would have bounced on a rock and broken something. It didn't help any that my wife had a horrified look on her face and my daughter was laughing her head off in the back seat! So now I'm just waiting to try it out in better conditions where it can't hurt itself.

I used crawl control twice, once going up a small dirt hill at a decent angle (to try it out for the first time) and it was jerky. I then later went out to some sand got myself stuck and used it. It was then smooth and got me out no problems. I think it depends on the terrain you're in.

All about what speed you have it set to. Speed one will be stop go stop go, higher you go the faster it goes any less stop go action. I've used it numerous times and love it. Went down a sketchy dirt hill with a nasty turn in the middle, very lose soil. When I tried going down with me controlling braking, it would slide. I do still have the stock tires so that could always be a issue but with crawl, I did not slide at all and I could focus navigating the trail.

You had no load, meaning you were not stuck or going up a hill or over rocks. Like what happens if you put it in first, floor it and let up. Try it when you have some torque requirement.

I had a load- was in "steep rock and boulders" and it bucked like crazy.

If it's slick as glass, steep and your sphincter is in a wad, Crawl Control is amazing.

I've played with the cc numerous times. I think it is like what was said previously about a load but I also believe that it's best to set it at midway or faster and then adjust for your terrain. The lowest setting must be for climbing near vertical walls or something. I found when navigating some pretty rough trails that sometimes the cc worked good and sometimes it was much better if I took over. Rolling the truck down a step or off a large rock, where I didn't want my stock suspension to compress too much and bang stuff underneath, it was better if I drove it nice and slow. JMHO

So mine did the same thing.. I was like wtf is with all the noise... from what I read, crawl control is mainly used for going up hill.. hence the breaking and noise since I was going down hill. The truck was doing it's job maintaining the speed I set with the knob by applying the breaks. Going up hill was much smoother with the speed adjusted correctly.

You'll get the noise when one of the tires spins –the brake for that tire kicks in and that's what you're hearing. It doesn't matter whether you're going uphill or down.

Same here. Slow cc needs much resistance to work smoothly.

Know what they call crawl control in a 4Runner...Downhill Assist Control.
Crawl Control is DAC with speed settings.
