I guess no one likes to learn how to drive on their own anymore.
Cool feature, but have to admit it takes skill out of off roading.

Why didn't they put it in reverse in 4H? What a gimmick.. Hope they had a gopro connected to get it all.

This is great! Now I can get stuck and be like "F**K this I'm out! I'll walk my butt home and YOU can figure out how to get yourself out of this mess."

And yes I do talk to my truck.

No smoke and mirrors on that video. There are sensors on each wheel and they move the dirt or sand under each wheel to dig itself out. I must say that is pretty cool. Probably not a sure fire way to get out of being stuck, but it will work in certain situations. You gotta love technology and computers.

Agreed the demo was not a "real world" and sure they could have made it more challenging but the truth is, the system did its job and without having any input from the driver. This is obviously a marketing ploy to show the capability of the truck. Was I blown away? no... BUT as an assistance to my off roading i can see how this system would be helpful. To the average Joe, this offers something the competition can't do... even with a diesel. You can see what Toyota is doing to combat the GM and maybe even the Nissan diesel, they are trying to go all rugged and claim the off road mount. The whole "this is the greatest off road vehicle ever made thanks to the unstoppable power of a linux program in ma'truck" just ins't the case in real life... but, the system can be used as an assistance off road when used properly.

Are you that serious, Toyota fans are foolish. You think you got this "technology" yet you still have no power seats!!

Why is this such a big deal... In my past 15 years of owning vehicles I've adjusted the seats exactly one time... Upon purchase on my way home.

Why is it such a big idea that this new technology was able to back out of 5in of sand? Get it stuck in muskeg and put it in this gimmick, see how far you get! Claim to fame for the new 2016, crawl mode and go pro mount!

You can point to that one scenario and I would agree that has not sold me but you cannot argue this technology on other Toyota vehicles which is world renowned and respected. Look at videos that the land cruiser competes with other $70k-$90k vehicles. The system does in fact work for certain scenarios for certain people. The tech and truck is not a gimmick, the demo was.

Nope. The TE 4runner has a standard 50/50 transfer case just like the tacoma. Only the limited has the center locking diff.

Well then shit. I don't know how it's different then A-Trac other than modulating the throttle for you.

Crawl control is strictly throtle based, just like cruise control. Traction/wheel spin is the "multi-terrain select" system, which is essentially an adjustable version of ATRAC. It uses the hydrolic brake booster (only found on TRD OR) to apply braking force to the wheels that are slipping which in turn sends power to the wheels that have traction.

So you did see the same thing I did ?
To me that looked like front spin (dig) with out rear. (like AWD transfer case) ?

    Paging @Jeff Lange
Can you post component drawing for new transfer case ?
Does it have AWD mode on Offroad truck?
    Thank you....

I thought that's what I was seeing, but maybe not since you can't see all 4 wheels at the same time.

Thats the thing, in AWD you would get either front or rear spinning with out other. when rear spins you dotn know if truck is in 2wd, but when front only spins,,,, clearly thats unusual for part-time-4wd unless you installed rear drive shaft disconnect.
The only other two logical explanations are
    1. You are seeing things
    2. That thing is AWD.

I know what you're saying. But in the video you can only see one rear wheel and one front. I can't clearly say what the other wheels are doing.

That sort of reasonable thinking is a bannable act around here.
