I have a question on the 2016 Tacoma with the crawl Control. i test drove an automatic today with that option as trying to find a manual Tacoma is literally impossible anymore it seems. I pull a feed wagon loaded with 6 tons of hay Feeding cattle by myself. During my test drive I attempted a fairly steep hill without pressing the gas seems to work In the same sense as a manual. With this option in a automatic work in my application? Has anybody used it in the situation? I did notice when opening the door it deactivated the crawl control but I would imagine there would be a way around that? Thank you guys for your time.

Pulling 12,000lbs with a Tacoma? On a slope? Using Crawl Control? Can't tell if serious....

I use it with a feed wagon to go feed cattle out in the pasture, flat ground. Yes it may be over the weight limit but I'm traveling it 2 to 3 mph. I have a manual 94 Dodge Dakota when in four low and first gear goes across the field perfectly.

Get a manual, order one and keep using whatever you're currently using for the job until it shows up. You could keep crawl control going by climbing out the window but I don't think I'd trust the auto and constant ABS cycling to be up to the task long term. I wouldn't let the naysayers deter you about being over tow rating, but you already know there's no real risk here.

Tow rating doesn't count for shit at a snail's pace in 1st gear, 4low. I used to do the exact same task with a 22RE powered '85 pickup and later with a 35 hp tractor, it's pretty low wear.

Look babies! I had a simple question that I was looking for a genuine opinion on. I'm not here for the who's got a bigger dick Contest! Nor which make is better! I'm looking for another small truck that will do and last as long as the last one did.

Thank you forty2 and neckbone for genuine comments and using the site as it was intended.

Ok just for you, I'll load hay every day that way it'll only be around 6,000lbs. Just so it's clear there's no tongue weight. The question still remains the same.

I agree. From what I've seen I'd just order a manual and keep feeding the way you have been. The electronic bs would probably just complicate things and make what your doing more difficult.

Will never understand why some people on this site seem to get off by quoting the exact manual specs and refusing to see that sometimes you can do things like pull much more than the on road rating or not wear your seatbelt. Maybe they've just never done things that are nowadays considered out of the ordinary?

Of course it will work, it was designed to pull 12k pounds. I'd say fuck it and just Grab a 53' trailer from a semi load that up this way your making less trips. This is of course after you JB WELD the slide to your bed to pull it

How many accident do you think the OP is going to cause exactly while traveling at 2 mph across an open field while towing a 12,000 lb drawbar trailer?

Yeah, that's a given, it's a cow pasture. Still not sure how OP is going to cause an accident in an empty field.

He is driving in a field feeding livestock. How will he hurt anyone?

Same with the seatbelt comment. If I'm pulling my boat on the beach going maybe 10mph, what's going to happen? It's much more important to be able to get in and out quickly in case there's a problem loading and unloading in the surf.

Some people still like trying to act like they know best but they don't understand the specific situation.
