So enlighten me why you chose the Sport instead of an SR Or SR5 if it wasn’t the case. I know i bought my OR for the options, 1 Crawl Control & 2 Locker I never called you out nor did I guess. It’s pretty simple to see.

Yes, very simple to see, simply by reading the post where you claimed that people buy a Sport because of the scoop, which is a “guess” as to knowing why anyone that isn’t you did something for a reason that you couldn’t possibly know anything about because you aren’t them, ha... & the scoop came with the truck that i wanted, not the other way around... You have now been enlightened.

Ha, I see......and I bought the truck I wanted with functional options and added the window dressing after the fact. Was nice of you to notice. However you seem to be the one that took my comment to heart. I’ll just say it wasn’t a guess merely an observation and seemingly correct.

I have used the MTS more frequently than the Crawl Control, that, along with the rear locker and a more OR capable stock suspension are more of the reason I bought the OR. While I don't regret the decision I made, I could have gone with the SR5 4X4, upgraded the suspension and installed diff lockers for about the same money and been pretty happy as well.

The Sport did not appeal to me as much, however, my wife loved it, and would have preferred that I went with it rather than the OR. I believe it would be a great on-road and back road vehicle, with the option of driving the odd lease road once in a while. It's real strength however, is as a very capable highway truck that handles and rides better than the OR, in addition to getting better fuel mileage. As we are on road much more than off, she may have had a point. However, when I am out in the Big Bend boonies of Texas, I appreciate what the OR is capable of pretty much stock (Only a E load tire upgrade). The sophistication of the MTS and Crawl is very impressive for a $33K truck, especially when compared to what I grew up with.

All models have their strengths, and are great trucks in their own ways. There are so many choices, when you factor the aftermarket mods available, that you can pretty much make every model what you want it to be, and be a very happy camper.

Enjoy your wheels everyone, and don't worry about what anyone else says!

Saying stuff like this proves to me that you most likely don’t know wth you’re talking about when it comes to off-roading your truck. Crawl control works in place of a front locker pretty damn good in slow high traction surfaces like rocks. My guess is you’re probably the type to just hit it and go and don’t actually know how to technically pick your line and get up without bouncing all over the place, that or all you do is mall crawl or do fire roads with your sport.

From your description of needs, I believe a regular 4x4 would work well for you.

Ok! You don’t know sh*t about crawl control plan and simple.
Not guessing, was just choosing to be nice and not be my normal self.

Thanks for all the input I didn’t know I’d get this much input on it! I’ve had my 07 sport for 12 years now and racked up 200k plus with it and given the chance to get a newer truck with way more options then mine now Is exciting I knew CC was a feature but I was unsure if you could get an OR without it all the ones I’ve seen so far it looks almost like it’s standard! I won’t be able to go and pick a brand new truck with options I want. I’ll be buying used and so far in my area of NC it seems all the trucks I’ve found have CC and most of the ones I’ve found aren’t close by! Once again thank you all for all the input and one of things I’ve looked forward to the most is being able to connect my phone to my truck! ‍♂️

The CC and MTS will be on every OR and Pro with an automatic transmission.

    Dear Thread,

There's no sense in ripping on someone for wanting or using CC as much or little as they want. The one measure of overall success in offroading is the ability of getting from "point A" to "point B"...with as little damage as possible. Crawl Control is just one more tool for a driver to use at their discretion.

If you sit back on a forum and call someone an unskilled pussy (interpretation) because they don't offroad by your standards, then you are (by loose definition) a narcissistic punk and (in my opinion) a douche.

Based on the description you gave, and my limited wheeling experience I would say you probably don't need CC, or really a rear locker. Regular 4x4 would likely work in 95% of your situations. Snow deep enough will bury you anyways and no rear locker, or CC will get you out (though a rear locker and lots of skinny pedal may help a patch of deep snow, but definitely not extended full roads of it).

I have used CC as a last ditch resort before having someone hook up a snatch strap or winch. It's got me out once, other times it just spun the wheels but I was already too burried.

It usually goes 4 high, 4 low, MTS, Rear Locker, CC

Edit: the one time CC got me out was in dirt, super rutted and lifting one front wheel and the opposite rear wheel at the base of a hill. I was scraping bottom and rear locker could have gotten me out but I wanted the most controlled climb over this thing (no armor at the time) so used CC over my rear locker.

Yeah! This guy almost gets it... There’s also no sense in ripping on someone for not wanting or not needing Crawl Control. We’ll all get to “point B” eventually... & then you lost me when you said not to call people names, but then you immediately used a derogatory term to describe someone. That part’s confusing, but the rest was cool. Good job.
