Years ago, about 1987 or so I was deer hunting on National Forest property. Came back to my truck to find 5 in one tire and 2 in another. Both flat. I walked the 5 miles back to pavement and found about 10 lbs of them dumped on the road near the pavement. I hitched a ride to a nearby fish and game HQ and was able to call my wife to come and get me. (Pre cell phone days) and report it. I was told that happened once or twice every hunting season.

Since I'd walked the road and knew it was now clear we drove her mini-van to my truck, put the spare on and took off the tire with 2 nails. Drove into town and got it repaired then returned to put in on where the other flat was. The one with 5 nails couldn't be saved.

The ordeal literally lasted all day, it was after dark before we got home. Shortly after that I bought a small compressor and tire plugs. I've never had 2 flats at the same time, but over the last 30 years I've only had to pull off 1 tire and use the spare. I've probably plugged and aired up 20 tires since then without ever getting out the jack. Most weren't mine. I've helped out several others stranded in desolate places. Is a lot easier and safer than changing the tire.

That looks like it was a screwdriver....The end that was out was the handle. Notice the 2 flat spots....that's for holding the plastic handle that was molded around it..!!

Maybe her husband just shoved it and left it..

My first flat was a sudden blowout at speed, in my mom’s station wagon at night on the freeway. I think I was 17, must have been in 1973. Got out, looked at the right rear tire ... there as a screwdriver handle sticking out the sidewalk at an angle. The blade was poking out the tread, well ground down but still recognizable as a flat blade. Cop pulled over at some point when I was changing it, to see if I needed help, said he’d never seen anything like it. I pulled the screwdriver out and used it as a pry bar for many years; wish I’d kept it.

Beaver teeth, quarters, BBQ blades wow we all seem to run over some crazy stuff out there. You’d think we drove through a junk yard every day.

I heard a story from an uncle of one of his coworkers going to the hospital after rubbing his hand on the inside of a tire to find what punctured it. He scraped his hand on a rattle snake fang that went threw the tread of a passenger tire.

It is a concrete form tie rod. Must have fallen off a work truck and you picked it up. Or you got it on a jobsite lol. Kinda crazy you found that in a tire lol

I got flats with nails and bolts, and a blowout once when I rolled on a surveyor steel rod lol

I work at a les shwab and the other day I pulled a bullet casing (must have been something like a .44 magnum) out of a toyo MT. Went straight into one of the lugs all the way through the tire casing

I don't know what it was but my wife hit some bouncing piece of metal on the freeway. Must've just fallen off or come off whatever it was supposed to be on. She rolled over it and it instantly popped her tire. Left a huge 1" gash/hole right in between the tread. I changed it for her, I wish I had taken a picture, it was gnarly lookin.

I drove through a pasture with about foot high grass and ended up with a deer antler in a brand new BFG mud terrain.

Year's ago I had a flat and there was a giant spike in the tire, can't imagine how I could have even run it over. Also ran over a Skunk one time and 3 of its ribs managed to go inbetween the treads and give me a flat.

One time I heard something go thunk under my car while driving, never saw anything, so kept rolling. When I stopped at my destination, I heard hissing from a rear tire. Ended up pulling a flat head screwdriver completely buried in my tire, it was almost as long as that piece of debris you picked up, OP. The plastic handle had broken off and was what thunked under my car, how my tire didn’t blow........put a plug in the tire, drove it for a long time afterward. Weird stuff.
