Part of a car antenna, it was like a metal straw. Flattened the tire immediately on a dangerous So. CA. freeway.

A tire for every trail, Must be nice!!
I take it you have a tire changer set-up at your place or have access to one.

Actually I was thinking the other day how nice it would be to have a set a tires for my daily driver then swap them out for the 5 weekends a year I need them for off-roading.

I work in a tire plant and we stack all our tires on top of each other. Even when we palletize them. The plant warehouse is 3 stories stacked floor to ceiling like that. And we also have 4 other warehouses the same way.... :notsure:

I love the smell of new tires in the garage when I pull my Tacoma in. Your probably are sick of it!

I pulled a folding knife out of my sidewall. I was driving and the tire went instantly flat. The knife took a huge hunk of sidewall out but left the knife.

Building them as a green tire they don’t have the smell that they do after they are cured. Some of the fresh butyl has a strong smell but it’s not so bad in the tire building shops. Just back in the mixing department. Now the warehouse, that’s a different story. That smell is super strong. Especially up on the 3rd floor

6” knife blade, dead center of tread. On my older Mazda, not my Tacoma. This pic is the inside of the tire.

More like, my grandma's winters, sisters winters, wife's winters, mom's winters, ATV tires, and the tacos big boy tires.

Tire changer set up? Yeah I got a floor jack, a torque wrench and a impact gun lol

When I was in North Dakota I had a 1/2"x 3" bolt, and the one that made me the most mad was just a sharp rock. Needless to say tires didn't last too long up there.

On the small size, this mofo caused a leak in my motorcycle tire.

    Sliver - cropped.jpg

I think it was a staple or an needle?

I also had a sliver of metal that I ground off of a part in the garage end up causing a puncture. After that, I was a lot more careful about cleaning up shavings.

It seemed that I was continually getting some tiny puncture like that within 200mi of slapping on some new tires, so I became very comfortable (again) with sticky snakes. The trick that I found for small stuff was to install the snake unevenly so that only one side (not doubled over) was left in the hole. This causes less stress on the carcass down the road.

After I put thousands of miles on plugged tires, I bought sticky snake kits for the cars and pack my little Slime Motosports compressor for road trips. It was cheap, but still good enough to seat beads.

Don't have a picture, but I pulled a possum jaw bone out of a tire one time at my grandfather's service station. It flattened the tire and made for a great conversation that day.

Yesterday I was doing a flat repair for a customer and I could see about a quarter inch of something metal sticking out of the tire. I dismounted it and found a roughly 6" punch tool had punctured the tire... punch side out. It was on a jeep so I reluctantly fixed it
