Crazy 2" Taco Lean on drivers side

Might want to try taking the new bumper off or loosening one side and seeing if your 2” lean is gone. Your new bumper may be “tweaked” and causing this. Sometimes the bumper can actually “move” while it’s being welded up and end up being tweaked.

This happened to me once after installing a receiver hitch. The freaking brand new receiver hitch was tweaked and caused a similar lean. Took it off and replaced with another and all was good. Never would have thought a tweaked receiver hitch could cause this but it did.

 

You must've had to really work to get that tweaked hitch on the truck!

 

Honestly it went on fairly easy.

I’ve installed a bunch of receiver hitches over the years and this one wasn’t too bad at all. I actually drove around for 2 weeks thinking my brand new truck’s frame was bent. Dawned on me to take the receiver off one day and couldn’t believe the lean was gone. Took the receiver hitch back and exchanged for new one and all was good.

Yes....I wouldn’t have believed a receiver hitch could cause this either.

 

IIRC, don't the rear shocks have a left and right configuration? I have Fox rears now but had 5100s and for the 1st Gens, had a L and R. Does your 2nd Gen have this set up? Could the shocks be switched?

That is beyond Taco Lean, something looks incorrectly installed or broken. Is the new bumper aligned, in the pic it looks off. Might be the pic.

And with an increase in bumper weight, perhaps any small lean would morph into a greater lean.

Just the pic, the bumper is perfectly aligned on both sides. I was super OCD about getting each side exactly the same. There is a chance I may of installed the rear shocks improperly when I put them in a few months ago, ill have to try and find out which ones are which in the morning.

I hear you with the bumper weight though, as I said, having less and less gas in my tank causes it to sit more and more level. I didnt have this much lean when my gas tank was full before the bumper, but that was also before adding 150+lbs to the rear end via the bumper/tire carrier.

I agree with you where something looks broken or incorrectly installed. It looks incredibly awkward in my driveway and im puzzled at what it could be. The ride hasnt changed at all and I cant visually see anything broken

 

Broken leaf or body mounts? What else could it be... hmm.

 

Brand new energy suspension body mounts as of 2 weeks ago haha. Im seeing some sag in the new body mounts now as well from all the sag in the rear! Trying to find a fix to this asap to avoid damaging my new mounts

 

I would look really hard for a cracked driver side leaf, or maybe when your new leaf springs were installed they were mixed up and passenger side was installed driver side, you might not have been able to notice without the extra bumper weight.

 

Put on real leaf springs

 

Stock springs suck. Even when new. TSB springs aren't rated any higher than the shitty ones they replaced.
