LOL, long story. My family repossessed some equipment his family was over six months delinquent on. I arrived to take the equipment off a job site he was running. We already had a little bad blood. He put acid in my gas tank, I took the nuts off his rear end u-bolts. We both put two new truck in a ditch chasing each other because nether would lift destroying both, kind of like the days of thunder rental car scene but I was in a truck owned by my families dealership and he was in a brand new dodge. I hooked a John Deere 6420 to his truck that was parked and drug it through the 4th of July parade. He threw a molotov cocktail in the cab of mine. We were young and stupid. We had a beer a few years ago when I was back home and reminisced with the locals at a bar and had a good laugh. We only had one police officer in our town and he was in the bar with us and said he was scared to get in the middle of it but was surprised we didnt kill each other. I was young and stupid.

When we were done having a few beers I got up to leave. He asked me if I still use a locking gas cap, I replied on every vehicle I own. I asked him if he still kicked his rear tires to see if his axle was attached. He said only when I was in town. We laughed, gave each other the finger and agreed to catch up in another decade or so.

Looking back it all went down because both of us were spoiled entitled dicks who had pretty much whatever we wanted and rarely got in trouble for doing extremely stupid shit. It took me a while but I realize that now. Both of us thought we were the bigger and badder person so it got out of hand and because we did not face any real repercussions for our actions it continued to escalate.

Sounds like everyone has at least one bad neighbor nearby these days. Greatest Generation were absolutely the best neighbors to have, followed by my parent's generation (born in the 50s to 70s, Boomers?) who seemed to still get along with everyone. Us Gen X'ers and beyond though--way too much economic mixing and people living in homes or neighborhoods/regions they can barely afford if at all...this kind of thing ends up happening in some shape or form.

Don't be surprised if he makes a story up or exaggerates your influence into the argument and tries to spin it back on you for your residential 'speeding'. Time to invest in a reliable dash cam.

I mean I believe you if you say you were not speeding but as a father that lives in the burbs for the love of god make sure you are not. I warned a young kid that was dating a girl down the street from my house to slow down. Would come by my place tires squealing. I asked him nice several times because I have a 10 & 4 year old. Finally after several weeks of this he hit the sidewalk on the opposite side of his direction of travel when my daughter was in my driveway and I met him at his girlfriends house and removed him from his car. At that point I did not care if I went to jail but before he got off the ground he got my point and I have not heard his tires since.

Well, OP seems to have disappeared.. another rant post and then no follow-up.

How fast were you really going? Its gotten so bad in my neighborhood ive started walking the dog down the middle of the street just to force people to slow down.

We are on your side OP, just most of us have kids and hate the speeders that come through our hood. For the most part we are a ruthless conglomerate of dick heads that try and entertain ourselves. Don't take it to heart and if this cat is just crazy we feel for you. All the more reason to put up some cameras and let it go though. You could press the issue but take inventory of what you stand to lose. The Hatfield's and McCoy's started over a pig you know.

When I was in high school a guy parked in my spot. Mind you we paid a little fee for a parking permit and we had assigned parking. I had a 73’ Blazer on 40’ boggers and 3/4 running gear. The guy was driving a 77’ Honda Civic. I had hooked up my tow rope and he came running over. In the heat of our discussion I roundhoused his car caving in his door. I ended up being arrested for malicious mischief. I plead guilty and the little puke sued me for $1k in small claims court. Mind you this was in 1994 and the little Civic was worth about $300. To this day I wish I hadn’t seen it in my mirror backing in and just parked on top of it. Sounds like your neighbor will be paying for the damage once he goes through court.
