I haven’t read the entire thread but if they are buying for this price it appears to be retail so how can they sell it and make a profit?

My 2016 sr5 prerunner acess cab was gr8.
Good mpg, good on gravel roads.
20k miles, "tapped" in rear...no damage to body panels BUTT hit on traviler hitch.
BENT THE frame into a bow!
Insurance would not pay for a frame switch out and no local major body shops would attemp repair (cost vs liability..)
INSURANCE paid me more than i paid for truck 4 yrs prior as new vehicle, you would not image the "comps" adjusters used
Got a new 18 trd off road. I dont like the engine and shift points but it overall is a charm

Where are you located? I know prices are dependent on the market region. I actually paid 31,500 for mine. It had 6 miles on it at the time.

I mean thats not that bad, alot of cars it would be worse.

Keep an eye on it, in a year or two it could go up.

I want to trade my 19 TRD Pro for a 2020 Pro. I have 14k on it. Wonder if I can just straight up swap it for a new one. I’m guessing the will offer me about 45k.

I got my 16 Trd or with premium pkg for 2.5k off MSRP when the 3rd gen launched - I believe it was around 36k.. and a year and a half later I checked the value for trading in and saw 35k.. granted I had less than 10k miles on the truck after 1.5 yrs in perfect condition, garaged.. seeing how well the truck holds value I just paid off the truck way early.

I noticed mine said something about mechanical damage adjustment of almost $20k. I don't know what that means. The truck is in perfect working order and the accident it was in was extremely minor. Sub 10 mph, so weird.

any wreck on carfax ruins the resale. no matter what. any little fender benders I have had i always try to fix out of pocket if its within reason.

although I pratically totaled a f150(13k repairs) and nothing came up on the carfax lol got full trade in for it.

Well, mine was $12k in damage - whole front end had to be replaced...strange.

I could understand ruining resale to a degree but an offer of $143 is just hilarious. The truck had like $3k in damage. I would expect the resale to be about $4-5k lower than the same truck with no accident on record.

That was all included with the final purchase agreement. Keep in mind this was their first offer and I never moved forward with negotiating.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that trading up while getting a lower payment and 0% interest was more affordable then I would have figured.

i'm guessing a lot has to do with the continued increase in costs for a new truck as well as longevity and high demand for midsize pickups

I had a 2nd gen Taco just shy of 200K and sold it for 9K. I bought a like new 17 TRD Pro for 35K in 2018 and its worth more than what I paid for it one year later. I dont think I can ever buy another truck knowing the value you can get if you play your cards right. I see people buying and selling Fords, GM's and Rams and they are always concerned about re-sale, mileage, and everything else while I buy and hold Tacos for 10 years at a time. This is my 4th Tacoma in a 25 year span. Never bought one new, always lucky enough to buy with low miles and always got good money for them when I sold. Low maintenance, tough and high resale have been the top of my list since learning quickly other car manufacturers suck.
