I know there are many posts about this, but I cannot find my exact question. I purchased my truck with a 2.5" toytec spacer and an additional top plate spacer on it so 3" lift with stock UCA's. They are drooping pretty bad, but tires wear just fine. My problem is anytime I go across a bump, big or small, the steering wheel goes nuts and sometimes jerks right or left out of my hand. Is this the UCA?

    Thanks

you're experiencing bump steer, it can be fixed with better UCAs. if the stock ones are drooping bad enough like you say then id say it'd be a good idea to invest in some aftermarket ones.
maybe take it to an alignment shop and get them to check your alignment. it could be possible that its just out of alignment.

im no expert but you may want to do a little research on alignment numbers and such.
im pretty sure i read that bump steer can be fixed with a better caster alignment, but usually its hard to get good caster numbers with a 3" lift and stock UCAs
my advice is just to do research and figure out which UCA best suits you.

It's because you can't get enough caster with your stock UCAs as @99TacoDriver said. Think a shopping carts front wheels. That's how your trucks are right now pretty much.

Your right! Its not too bad when I'm on the pavement so i never really noticed it too much, but here lately I've went on some trail rides and its horrible. I have to have both hands on the wheel and it makes me not want to even go.

I've been looking for the solution to bump steering too. Had my Fox 2.0 IFPs put on a month ago and after Toyota did the alignment they said I should look into new UCAs. Really didn't think I needed them on only a 2" lift. It drives fine till I hit a pothole so I guess I'll be looking into new ones.
Thanks CamShaft033 for your post

Absolutely the stock uppers causing this problem. It'll also max out causing alignment issues. Do yourself a favor and invest in new uppers before your tires wear beyond saving. Total Chaos unis are pretty decent and easy to install with some frame bending. PM me if you want installation help.

Edit: You may also notice shakey steering wheel at speeds from 55 to 70.

Another thing to keep in mind is wheels and tires you want to put on. If you want aftermarket uppers to avoid rubbing you should do some serious research.

Sheet metal bending. You have to bend back part of the inner fender to get out the UCA bolt since it's so long. I recommend cutting out the old bolt, and reinstalling the new one backwards with some loctite on it. Much easier.

Sorry I should have more specific. Some models there are lines in the way on the driver side, not sure as to which years. My driver side had to be fed back in the original way. I would advise against cutting until your sure the new bolts are good though.

I too had to feed the bolt back in the normal way. Those stupid lines got in the way
