so starting Friday my steering wheel started shaking like crazy. It does it when I go about 40 miles per hour and it becomes more violent the faster I go. I had the wheels rebalanced by discount. yet it still doing the same thing. I noticed that they used stick on wheel weights. They said the front lip on the stock trd sport rim wasn't sufficient to put wheel weights on. I am running guard dog retread in 255 75 17.

    So my guesses are.
    A. The wheel balance is off.
    B. I messed up something when I drove over a few curbs on Friday. (I was blocked in and slowly crawley over two or three standard parkinglot curbs)
    C. one of my sergeants was harping on me not to buy retread. He said I could be experiencing separation in a tire. But the tires look fine I see absolutely no buldges.

I have absolutely no issues under 40 miles per hour. Over that it starts shaking a little once I had about highway speed it's shaking hard enough to make my whole truck move / vibrate. If you had to guess what could it be?

Wheel bearing maybe? I just had my front passenger side done. It was making a horrible howling noise with some wheel play as well. My other thought is a ball joint

Its at discount now getting the inside outside type weight balance. I'll see if that fixes it if not I'll take it to a front end shop.

    best wheel bearings around! www.marionbumper2bumper.com
Stop giving beer to your steering wheel before you drive! It is drunk and can't roll a straight line!

Seriously though, it could still be a balance issues. One thought, have you rotated the tires front-to-rear and checked to see if the vibration moves as well? Also inspect your steering gear mounting bushings. Worn bushings will cause one HECK of a wobble at highway speeds.

I had the same issue awhile back, took it in for a re-balance cause some of the weights came off and it was good as new! Your issue could be different of course
