Hi there- Just wondering from those that have had the CRC undercoat from the frame warranty if anyone has experienced it starting to flake off, exposing the rust underneath. I just noticed it today and have not called toyota yet. If you have experienced this, was toyota helpful fixing the issue. Thanks
    Cheers

    Take it in ASAP.

Hopefully this time around, they'll give you a new frame.

    Good Luck!
Don't wait...I've heard this warranty expires next month!

I called the Dealership where I bought my truck on 12/27/14. At the time I did not know about frame issues. The truck was freshly undercoated and the Salesman said that it came with an extended warranty. He never disclosed why they did the undercoating.

Today the Service Manager told me that there is no extended warranty. He offered to do another frame inspection. I am going to take it in tomorrow. I know I should have done my homework before i bought the truck. But that does not excuse them of deceptive sales practices.

Went to the Toyota dealer yesterday. They put my truck up on the rack and inspected the frame. The frame does appear to be solid. However, I did have a broken leaf spring. They replaced the springs free of charge.

First off what year is your Taco? and was the undercoat done through sales or was it done by the service department under the corrosion campaign?
Once the frame is inspected and then undercoated under the campaign it has a 15 year warranty from manufacture date, not 100% about the US but here in Canada you have to have your truck inspected and undercoated by Dec 31 of this year for this extended coverage to apply.
So answering your first question if it was undercoated through the campaign let the bugger peal and rust, all the sooner you get a new frame ;)

Its a 2008. I had the frame inspected and undercoated through the campaign in March of 2015. I cant find the paperwork from the campaign. What is the 15 yr warranty your speaking of.
    Thanks
    Cheers

Once the campaign is done (inspected and undercoated) the frame gets a 15 year warranty from manufacture date, so your frame is covered from any holes that may develop until 2023. The longevity of the undercoat itself really depends on how it was put on, if the frame wasn't cleaned well and primed then flaking will happen a hell of a lot sooner.

Mine was done with the crc crap. I had taken care of mine also. I had spots (welds as stated above) on my 08 I was watching. I kept it clean and coated with rust inhibitor for the winters.
When I picked up the truck after the coating, I was pissed they actually asked me to leave.
They did not pull the box as I was told they would. I could see they did not clean anything besides pressure wash. If they did that???? Inside the boxed part had no coating.
The truck was literally dripping and I was told that's that no warranty.
I was not going to leave until they removed the crap they had just buried my frame under if they were not going to warranty it.
Sorry getting to be a longer post here.
To the point a tech there had a nice 2nd gen handed me a # it was Toyota care.
Filled a claim, 1 year on the dealers crc job and after that 15yrs on frame. I've got my claim # in a safe deposit box!!!!!

Sorry yea mine is coming off also.

Jeffch- Where did you have your work done. I am having the same problem. I have talked to Toyota corporate and they have said that I am SOL. I asked about the 15 year warranty from manufacturer date and he said it did not apply to 2008. All the CRC is flaking off. Just wondering if I take it in to a dealership and complain if I can keep running it up the pole. The guy at corporate said he gets three to four calls about this problem a day, but toyota is willing to do anything about it

I hate hearing these stories, if my 13 starts showing these signs it's gone. Personally these trucks cost to much to have these issues now a days. On a side note, the CRC won't do anything unless stripped, primed, and then coated. Most shops won't do this, to much cost. It's a bandage is all really.

Mine was done at Handys in St. Albans vt. I was actually told that same thing (sol). I was pissed. I tried the # for Toyota care it's a long wait and I ran out of patience and beer. Sent a nasty email to corporate I guess. Any way they replied to me very willing to help. I had already done the 2 + HR call with Toyota care. I was told my frame will be covered for 1 year on the crc job then 15 yrs after that. I'm sure it will be a fight when the time comes because all the crc does is hide it. They gave me a case # and I will be sure to not lose it.

Right on. I will keep fighting. All the CRC has flaked off all around the motor mounts. I also have a case number as well. I cant figure out why they go through the trouble to half ass the spraying of these trucks. It doesn't seem anymore cost effective. I got mine sprayed at white river. Thanks for the info.
    cheers

The dealer made it sound like it was Toyota who says no warranty and Toyota acted like the dealer was wrong. Toyota did say all warranty work comes with a yr warranty. My truck was done last April or May I think and it was at that time I had contacted Toyota.
Did you actually speak with anyone at Toyota?

The # I was given was
    800-331-4331.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease or replaced.
Hope you get some good news.
Id keep after them, check another dealer.

Well like usual we must do all the maintenance to our trucks.Wire brush scrape grind the frame at the welds. Then zinc seal paint or por15 it.then get a annual spray on them..

I did speak with a case manager. He in short said there is nothing that can or will happen. He said nothing about the 1 yr warranty on the spray. I have a case number. I sent off an email as well today just trying to fire one down range. I'll certainly keep working on it but I feel it is futile. My truck was done last March, about this time. I was actually out of VT for the whole winter this year. So It wasn't the weather that made this stuff start flaking off. Thanks for your input. I'll be sure to post any progress.

    Cheers

They did the coating on my 2007 a bit more than 1 year ago and I can already see new rust spots and coating pealing off aswell... Hope I will get a new frame eventually!

I'm going through this right now. I have a 2007 double cab, 65000 miles. Had the frame treated in November 2014. I took the truck in last week for a trany service, spring recall. Also, I wanted them to fix the area they didn't spray when the truck was in there the first time. They call me to let me know that they found a quarter sized rust hole in the frame under the coating. They want me to call "the number" to get Toyota Corporate to ok the frame replacement. That's where I sit now. Waiting for Toyota to call me back. Anybody else going through this or already dealt with it?
