I’m having my frame sprayed today by the dealer. Has anyone had this done for any amount of time? Does it work or will my frame rot out in time?

My opinion is that the CRC is to (hopefully) get you past the 12 year warranty.
After 12 years, you are on your own.

    That just my opinion.
I also believe all frames, by any manufacturer, will all rot in time.
    Some faster than others.

The effectiveness of any coating is almost entirely predicated on appropriate surface preparation. That means removing all existing corrosion and properly cleaning/degreasing/etc per the coating's specs.

Toyota pays dealerships a fixed amount to prep the frame and apply the CRC, and based on the amount payed, the hourly rate that a technician could be making doing something else, and the amount of prep required to properly apply the CRC from the various campaign... Well, the incentive is to just get it out the door ASAP.

Your dealer is almost definitely going to knock off the big crusties and then blast the CRC right on top, which in many cases (including mine, and many others) is worse than nothing.

If I had known then what I know now, I would have never let them coat my frame and I would have done it myself, because now I'm doing it myself anyway and removing that crap has tripled the amount of labor involved.

Here is the thread detailing my experience with improperly applied coating. YMMV, but probably not by much.

What you had done before is different then what they do today. Before you had that black tar coating on exterior frame, today they only put white waxy goop on the inside.

I agree with you though, that stuff they put on your frame before is a total nightmare.

Interesting, I wonder what led to the change and what the reasoning is/was from Toyota?

I think it was from people’s experience like yours. That 1st stuff they used just flaked off and the frame still rusted. Today they just squirt the crc in the frame and plug holes with plastic caps. They know it rust from the inside and are trying to saturate the rust areas with there different crc coating.

Well it was the white wax like goop. I got to see my frame while my truck was on the lift. I only have some light surface rust. And the service manager showed me some of the frames out back that were replaced. That made me feel much better because my Taco is a 2015 and it has nothing compared to what I saw. Thanks for all responses but I’m sure my ride will last me for many years to come.
