I’ve done some digging and haven’t seen another thread describing an issue like this so just hoping someone has some insight.

I have a ‘21 TRD OR long bed. This past weekend we did the Mojave road end to end (130ish miles) and on the last day I noticed a creaking/popping noise coming from the rear. I’m able to emulate it by rocking the truck back and forth and the noise is coming from what sounds like is inside the passenger rear wheel well. It happens going in and out of driveways mostly and I hear it accelerating from a stop sometimes.

The truck has a SnugTop camper shell and on the roof has a waterport and Jerry can sitting on a front runner rack, but no RTT. I have Deaver stage II leafs and a full King 2.5 suspension sitting on 33s. It can’t be more than 350-400lbs, plus maybe a 50-100lbs of camping gear. The leafs alone support up to 600lbs.

I saw some other threads talking about bed stiffeners (I don’t have them…yet) that some other folks find hairline cracks in the corners of the tailgate - I have one tiny one on the drivers side.

I’m taking it to the dealer tomorrow to see if this is something I can get fixed under warranty (the noise and crack at the tailgate) but was hoping to have some ammo in my back pocket as to what it possibly is. Thanks

I thought leafs too but the noise when I climb under there while someone else jumps up and down on the tailgate sounds like it’s actually up in the wheel well

Spritz a lil panther pee around both of the bushings and see if it goes away.

I did that on the trail too. Now at home it’s so much louder.

I get that same noise too. Sounds like it's coming from passenger rear. Get it backing out of my driveway and sometimes when making a u turn

Suppose I could check that. It's never been touched since new. Sounds more like the bed popping or maybe a leaf spring

Do you have something in the bed mounted cubby? Could the box that houses your 110v outlet be loose?

I was getting the same type of noise.
Spare tire was tight. I still lowered it and re tighten it. Noise went away.

Problem solved. One of the bolts on the floor of the the bed that attaches it to the frame rail was like finger tight loose (the one closest to the cab). Tightened it and noise went away.

I initially read this as “under the bed” and figured it was very Halloween apropos.

I'll have to check those, that's exactly where the sound is coming from

Ok, so after checking all of these things just for the hell of it I pulled the rear seats forward and it was my subwoofer box moving when I backed out of the driveway. It only happened then and when I made a sharp hard turn. Got it braced up nice now and the noise is gone
