I am at 8k miles and have noticed a creaking/squeaking noise coming from the rear end of the truck. It makes the truck sound like its a 1990 with 200k miles on it. I suspected it to be the leaf springs so I tightened the U-Bolts and that did nothing to dull the noise. Does anyone have any ideas?
I'd like to be able to point the dealership in the right direction so they don't have the truck for 2-3 days looking for the noise.

Short clip of the noise listen closely.

Last week I brought mine into the dealer for that noise. They opened up a case with Toyota and the shop notified me they were replacing the leaf springs. I did not get any sort of explanation which I have been prying. Either way, part on order...

Yeah I was pretty confident it was the leaf springs, I even hosed them off and washed them thinking maybe it was just dirt. Oh well, Back to the dealer I go....

It would probably work but this is a 2016 30k truck. I shouldn't need to spray WD-40 on it. I'm not going to lie this truck has been frustrating to say the least, First the low ATF fluid, then the hood adhesive, Un-greased u-joints, Incorrectly torqued U-Bolts and now this annoying creaking.

Frustrated is an understatement as I'm headed back to the dealership....

I checked my springs. There is nothing wrong with them. I spray a little white lithium grease between the leaves once every few months.

A squeak in the rear is how you know a Tacoma is near!

But in all seriousness I bought my Tacoma in 2013, I hadn't owned it 6 hours and it started squeaking.

I'm going to have the dealer check it out. They were supposed to "inspect and lube" everything 2k miles ago when I have the vehicle in for its first oil change. I know that didn't happen.

5k service is known as the "sunshine" treatment. Open the hood and let the sun shine on it for 30 minutes, then call the customer to pick it back up. They don't do a damn thing.

My f150 had a rear leaf noise. It was intermittent. I think it was in the nylon bushings. We ended up changing them both out under warranty.

Thanks for this comment man. I had the squeaking and it was driving me crazy. It was really loud and occurred on any bump at all. Already took the truck in to the dealer once and they tried to fix it to no avail. Just went outside to check the spare tire after reading your post... it WAS loose. Tightened it up and the squeak appears to be completely gone.

Again, thanks for bringing this up.

Just heard back from the dealer, They gave me a loaner to fix the adhesive on the hood (sending it to the body shop) as for the creaking they said its a "deformed body molding" in the front of the truck and ordered a new one. No clue how a body molding could get "deformed" oh well hopefully it fixes the annoying noise.

I hate to join this party but my 2016 bought in March is squeaking like a SOB in the back, too. When it rains I can't hear it so much. But as soon as it dries out again, each and every bump causes a squeak. Nothing like driving through town with your new truck that sounds like an old clunker.
