Wish I knew. Second dealership inspected on Tuesday, failed inspection, called and said corporate needed more pictures Tuesday evening. Dropped off the truck on Wednesday haven't heard a word since. The service manager was off until this Monday & I think he was handling it so I still have hope. I think corporate is pissed that I caught it this close to the end of the warranty. Just waiting to see if they are going to try to make excuses. This is more stress than I need right now. Sadly I'm still Toyo hater.

Just laying low and waiting. Thanks for being interested. I know I may sound a little paranoid at times but I'm also not nieve.

It does take a few days for Toyota corporate to approve it. Hang in there.

What baffles me is they're producing those frames in droves. Like your new frame already exists, so why they drag their feet is beyond me

Can't do that to this dealership. I really do like and trust them. Their service manager has gained my respect and I have to give him a chance. But I get where you're coming from and it is fun to think about!!!!

My dealership told me they have to order the frame and it's made after that. They said Toyota doesn't have them laying around.
Don't know if this is true it's just what they told me.

Might be true. I know they used to make em by the truckload.... Maybe during the heyday of the recall.

It's been my experience that you need to take what the dealership says with a grain of salt, pun intended!! Just watch out for the corrosion it causes. Trying to keep a sense of humor.

Seriously though I was told 1 to 3 months to get a frame. I just hope they don't use that against the dealership. They told me they have eaten the cost of 2 frames due to corporates strict rules. $14,000 is a lot of money to a small dealership.

My dealership said it used to take 4 - 6 months to get a frame but now they get them in about 4 weeks since they're not doing as many.
I'm at 3 weeks now and no word yet.

Jeeznus, I just joined this forum today because I've been eyeballing a new Tacoma and this is the first thread that catches my eye.
If this is supposedly normal for a Toyota, I'll pass and go with a domestic.

I've lived here in Chicago-land almost my entire life (50yo), the epicenter of vehicular salt and chemical corrosion, and have NEVER had to tend to a vehicle frame ANNUALLY to make it last decades. For that matter, I've pretty much ignored the frames short of a good hose down if I found some mud or what not.
Multilple GM's, Fords, Subarus, Nissans .... Never a Dodge....Freaking hate Dodge.
I am absolutely SHOCKED at the ignorance it must take to blame YOU, Toyo hater, for this obvious case of Big Corp money grab by eliminating corrosiion protection for ANYTHING on the underbody of a car.
    This is insane.
Now I'm off to research if this has been properly remedied by Toyota....for the long haul. Maybe make an intro thread right as I get banned, lol.
Good luck to you Toyo Hater.

we have plenty of fords dodges and chevys that are only 10 years old with frames rotted out. Hell we had a f150 almost snap on a rack. it was a 2010. they're all susceptible because they're all made by the same companys (the frames) dana and metulsa make most of the frames for these trucks sold in the states.

the sad thing ive noticed is with all of them, garage kept vehicles suffer the worst

LOL, then they literally must not make them like they used to any more. My 2001 F250, eventually the body went to dust, but the frame was the least of my concerns at that point. It appeared fine.
    1989 Chevy 1/2 ton ....258k .... 10 years....all body, ZERO frame concerns.
I'll still stand by my statement that we never had to care for frames in the past, that's my experience.
Whatever the heck they're putting down on the roads these days must be a WHOLE LOT worse than what just plain old salt was doing back in the day. The speed it devours sheetmetal is down right unsettling.
There must be something to the garage kept thing..... I work in the steel mills, which is just a NASTY alkaline, chemical pit that EATS paint and steel ...but those mill beaters they keep out there, I can't recall seeing 10 yo truck frames rusting through on the job. Eventually, yes, but long after 10 years.

Man , if this is what owning a new/newer car entails...having to worry about frame rust through in a decade, I'm switching from owning for the long term to trading in at 5/6yrs or 50k miles MAX.
Fudge, that is what drew me to Toyota's...reliabilty. At least the reputation for it anyways. At this rate, you can damn near justify a disposable Kia or some chit.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to stop crapping up Toyo hater's thread.

I work DoT in st. Louis. Live and breathe salt and road corrosion. 2018 Taco has no rust, and I also wheel it hard. Hose off the crud when it gets on there, park it outside. No problems.

I trust this truck to the end of the world and back.

what really is doing it these days is Brine.. that stuffs.. man its nasty to cars, and when your driving is like a sandblasting effect under the carriage of trucks (cars are usually saved for the most part because they sit lower to the ground) and it gets inside the frame rails and slowly eats the frames from the inside out
