Planning on it. Thanks for the useful advice. I want to clean some of it off first so I can see how bad it really is. I don't think the dealership that passed it really did a proper inspection.

Sorry if I offended some of you die hards with my username, it was starting to get a little venomous.

I'm hoping I can change it to Toyo hater no mo. We'll see how my next inspection goes next week. My frame is swiss cheese and the first dealership didn't do a proper inspection. Thanks for the welcome

Hey Toyo hater, I can tell you how my situation went down. I got the leaf spring recall done on my 2009 Tacoma on Aug. 14th. I told the service advisor to have the mechanic check my frame for rust when they were doing the leaf spring replacement. When I picked the truck up I asked the service advisor what the mechanic said about my frame. She said the mechanic said my frame looked good.

About the end of September I had my local mechanic do brakes and tuneup. When I picked it up he asked if I had ever noticed the rust hole in my crossmember. I said I hadn't seen it before.

I went home and called Toyota corporate in Plano, Tx and they gave me a reference number and told me to take it to my local dealer. I told Toyota corporate that the local dealer said my frame was good on Aug. 14th when the leaf springs were done. The local dealer failed my frame the next day.

I know you don't have a perforation like I did, but I think it helped me when I went into my local dealer with a reference number from Toyota corporate. They knew I wasn't playing around.

This is just my opinion of what happened to me.

    Jim

Looks like you failed to perform basic maintenance in a high salt use area. Not toyotas fault.

Thank you Jimspur. I did some scraping and punched right through in four different places. I don't trust the local dealership so I called another dealer 30 miles away. They will be calling me back on Monday to get me in, hopefully next week. I know Toyota owes me a frame & I won't give up until I get it. I am also very tired of post's like the one after yours I think these people work for Toyota and are trying to discourage us. Thanks for your input.

By the way I got my new leaf springs a few years ago and they said my frame was fine that time too.

I think this site is loaded with Toyota spies. They remind me of the soup Nazi on Seinfeld.

Toyo - you only have 12 years from the first date of service to get the frame replaced.
I think the first date of service is the day you bought your truck. If your inside the 12 years I would call Toyota corporate and tell them my frame is rusted badly and I would like a reference number to take to my local dealer.

One more thing. I have owned a chevy, an older toyota, 2 nissans, a ford, and a dodge. None of these trucks where treated as well as my Tacoma has been, and I never had a frame problem with any of them.

Done all that, the reason I'm having a problem is that my DOFU is 12-1-2008. My warranty (enhancement) expires in 6 weeks.

I guess your purchase date is Dec. 1st 2008. You better get on it. Keep us posted and good luck!

I can't wait to tell the world what happened to me, I hope it's what it should be. Toyota put out an inferior product and they need to make it right.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
If they don’t warranty that frame I’d want to start perforating some rectums

I'm just glad to finally find a sense of humor on this site. I'll keep you posted on my progress. The sad part is that I just put $5500 into this truck and was alerted to the problem after $5000 of it was spent. I am a 60 year old man with health problems and I can't climb under my truck to clean and inspect every time I drive it, especially in the winter. More do I think I should have to.
