Cream puff truck crap frame

I certainly didn't create the holes they were just hiding under the rust

 

My dealership said they used a scaler, which I assume is a needle gun.

 

I need to read up on the inspection procedures before I go to the next dealership. Thanks for the reminder.

 

Probably not a needle gun. Was probably a pick or just a visual inspection.

 

They told me they used a scaler for their test. I thought maybe they were supposed to hold a needle gun in a spot for a certain amount of time. I was probably just trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. It looks like they knocked off a bunch of rust and stopped before they went far enough to completly expose the problem.

 

Did you uncover this after cleaning the rust off because I'm pretty sure this qualifies.

 

Yes. I hope they don't try to use that against me. The dealership told me to clean it up and seal it.

 

You're getting a new frame, just gotta find the right dealership.
They can't deny you. Your frame looks worse than mine.

 

The only one I've seen that's worse had over 300,000 miles on it. Mine has 35,700. Thanks for the encouragement.

There's no way they can deny you now that's bigger than 10mm for sure.

Btw OP, you're definitely in the right. No truck with that low of mileage less than 12 years old should look like that. At most the only thing you should ever have to do is power wash under the frame a few times in the winter to get rid of the salt. Most American made trucks wouldn't do that. 4runners wouldn't either (made in japan) there's something definitely wrong with the Tacoma steel that makes it prone to rust.

They replaced my frame that didn't look even close to half as bad as that. So I guess I'm a Toyota lover lol. I'm pulling for ya.

 

Still love the truck just not a toyota fan these days. I hope that will change.

 

This forum has been a big help, except the consumer blamers. Thanks to everyone who has had positive input.

 

Sadly the frames were made by Dana corp. in my home state of Ohio. I still think it's done with subpar chinese steel.
