Just felt like adding a bit of thought and opinions to a few things here. Just for the heck of it because I like this thread and LOVE debate (as long as it is civil and not condescending)

Yes, but I was refering to judging a specific person on their belief. Just because a person THINKS a different way does not open the door to someone who thinks a different way to arbitrarily say the other is wrong, without having proof of them being wrong.

How do we, or anyone for that matter KNOW that the tectonic theory is 100% accurate for say 500,000 years? (Of course interestingly enough it is called tectonic THEORY, not fact) Perhaps the tectonic shifting has decreased say 10% over a period of 1000 years. This would mean that 500,000 years ago the tectonic shift could have been as fast as 3000 feet per year. Again this could be a theory. Also as tectonic plates shift they create mountains and valleys as they interact with each other, so maybe things moved really fast back then, and have been slowing down. Granted again I have no evidence to PROVE this, but we ARE talking theory here. Just food for thought.

Again my argument against the 100% accuracy of this is WHERE do they get their numbers from? Has someone actually COUNTED the galaxies? Of course not. So their information is simply based on THEORY and not fact. If you could count 1 galaxy every second it would take you 100,000,000,000 seconds to do so. This would equate to 3168 YEARS to count them all. Obviously impossible. So they BASE their numbers on what they HAVE found, and then THEORIZE from there. Again, no solid FACT. Just theory.

    Really?

    crit·i·cal think·ing

If you want to understand more about tectonic theory, take a look. Science doesn't claim 100% accuracy, but it is trying to understand as much as it can about the earth across many fields of science.

Extrapolation is a technique used frequently. Within a small area counting is done, and then knowing the total area, estimates can be made. Again 100% accuracy is impossible, but whether it is 100 billion or 10 billion, there is a large group of people currently working on refining what that number is. Better telescopes will change that estimate, and have been. It is not theory that there are lots of galaxies out there, the closest ones we can see very clear, and in hundreds of thousands that can be counted.

Sorry, didn't realize you were using a literal definition of critical thinking.

Most humans don't even use critical thinking then.

Yes, that is a smart dog. But how is there nothing else on the planet that we are competing with on an intelectual level?

Let alone know what it is.

Many can't even form a coherent sentence in their native, and sole, language. Although I would hope that evolution would destroy these inferior specimens, they will survive by sheer reproductive instinct (damn that survuaval strategy). And this will eventually outstrip our resources, says Mr. Malthus. So we have that to look forward to.

personally I dont know how you can look at a chimpanzee and say huh we sure look alot like them, I wonder why they never evolved into something like humans since theyve had almost 100 million years to evolve.

In this day and age and generally speaking, no, but that was also not part of what was originally stated. Back then, I would say it would be debatable.

However, I would say my dog is smarter than some adults in today's society.

Im not saying I believe in that. I definitely think something happened globally that influenced us as humans. What that is I don't know. could be "god" could be made up could be aliens. But the theory does open up new discussion. Intelligent design.
