Wow. It is truly amazing that you can determine what I would or would not do based on a few posts to this forum. FYI I made a major change in my belief system a little over 20 years ago because of something I learned to be false that is still held near and dear to several of my family members and friends. When it comes to truth, I do not look at cost benefit ratio, but simply whether it is true or not.

Hmm. Merriam Webster defines science as "a body of facts learned by study or experience" (Bold, italics and underline added).I agree it may take decades (or even longer) to understand certain things properly. There are, however, certain things that are established as scientific fact. The earth's atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% trace elements. This is scientific fact arrived at by experimentation that can be reproduced at will in most any high school chemistry lab. The facts are that there are different schools of thought on evolution (the building blocks of life started with a reducing atmosphere or a non-reducing atmosphere - evolution is a gradual process - evolution is a gradual process with occasional sudden leaps ahead due to mutation...). The fact that there are different schools of thought, and many of them mutually exclusive is evidence that evolution is far from a scientific fact.

It is interesting to me that so often the approach taken when someone disagrees with evolution is to marginalize them as uneducated/uninformed and thus incapable of understanding the complexities of the issue and thus should be quiet and go to the corner and stand there where they belong.

I appreciate your tenacity to holding to your beliefs in regard to evolution. I can respect anyone that holds fast to their beliefs when challenged, as I well know It takes courage and conviction.

    Regards

i do not believe that evolution was the way humans came to be on earth. no any other life form for that matter. evolutionist cannot prove it either isnt that what the missing link is?? there is no evidence that we came from apes no evidence that alligators were fish at one time. there is a missing piece of information in there hypothesis...

Too bad that separation doesn't apply to the religion that teaches government is god!

And the way humans are devolving... they'll be sharing 98.8 percent of their behavior with chimps. ;)

I don't believe government is God , but apparently for you that is impossible because it seems you only have room in your mind for 2 alternatives , God and secular leftist

Actually you have Aristotle, Ptolemy, Pythagoras and Thomas Aquinas to thank for that. It was only after the merging of Greek philosophy into the Christian congregation that this idea became a part of church teaching.

The Bible actually teaches that the earth is round (Isaiah 40:22), that it is hung on nothing (Job 26:7) and the water cycle (Ecclesiastes 1:7). It's not a science text book, but when it touches on science it is accurate.

Sad to say, many have taken verses that out of context to try to make the Bible say something it does not. For instance, the account of Joshua chapter 10 that says essentially that the 'sun and moon stood still' was taken literally to mean that the sun and moon were the celestial bodies that moved and not the earth. Obviously the sun and moon not moving was not meant literally any more than our use of the terms "sunrise" and "sunset" indicate that the sun is moving.

Interestingly, Galileo expressed firm faith in the Bible and that it was meant for everyone, not just the clergy. He also expressed the same thought that I mentioned in the above paragraph - that Joshua chapter 10 was not to be taken literally, but that Joshua was merely explaining things as he saw them from his perspective (I believe that there is a theory called relativity that addresses this...I could be wrong though)

The only people that claim political views are a religion are fringe whackos. Once again, separate POLITICS and RELIGION. Very different. Your religion may influence your political views but unlikely the other way.

Do you realize just how much difference 1.2% in DNA can mean? Quote below taken from your referenced article:

"If human and chimp DNA is 98.8 percent the same, why are we so different? Numbers tell part of the story. Each human cell contains roughly three billion base pairs, or bits of information. Just 1.2 percent of that equals about 35 million differences. Some of these have a big impact, others don't. And even two identical stretches of DNA can work differently--they can be "turned on" in different amounts, in different places or at different times."

Chimps and humans took different paths quite some time ago , but the percentage of shared genes still points to a common ancestor
