Ones belief is never realy a problem. The issues come when those beliefs contradict reality and are forced on others. One could believe the sky is made of jello and smelled of pineapples, but when evidence shows other wise, they should not be allowed to force others to accept thier un founded view of the world as fact. That is the issue with this whole idea of Evolution vs. Creation. They are not equal, one is a belief and one a substantive therory based on evidence. the only reason there is a contraversy at all is that A group who doesn't like having to have their world veiw questioned is trying to make other people believe as they do. Its the story of religion through history . We are right, no questions or you will be punished. Its about time people see the difference between truth and "the Truth". And ones own anecdotal experience with percieved divinity is not evidence.

If you recognized objective morality and loved what is right enough to act on it, you would receive the same blessings in your life regardless of your beliefs...

...and over time What you love would reveal Itself to you. :)

If you act morally and do not think religion or a deity is the source of that morailty, they aren't blessings, what you get are consaquinces for your actions, you get effects. there is no reason for anything more than that. This statement denies the need to follow any religion providing one is a good person. But who decides good, and when?

Really? So explain the disproportionate amount of evangelical chaplains in the military? Or the prayer at all ceremonies? What about politicians? Religious persons are over-represented there. You just hit a new low in stupidity.

Surely, Jesus would have not liked you much.

So the evolutionary deity is "mother nature"...I think I begin to understand!:D

Seriously though, that is ascribing some kind of sentience/sapience to nature; which seems to be the hallmark of evolutionary thought. Inanimate chemicals "decide" to form living organisms and then those living organisms "decide" to become more and more complex organisms, even though they do not posses a brain or the ability to plan ahead.

As for the earth's ability to provide for an overabundant population, well, even medical science today has methods of birth control - not to mention that a creator could also regulate fertility (I know many will disagree with me on that one, but if he created us and the universe, some natural birth control is not a stretch). Also consider what someone like Eienstein, or Oppenheimer or Steven Hawking could do with a lifespan of say 200 years (not to mention the possibility of them living forever). The universe is a big place and there are likely other planets in it that could support life. (Not saying that is what is going to happen, but an intriguing possibility)

But he did "explain the game" as you put it. That is what the Bible is about. He does not, however, force anyone to follow his rules at this time as we are all free moral agents.:)

I was simply making a point about the premise that is so prevalent in evolution that since an organism needed to adapt to better compete/survive, it evolves. What better way to improve competition than to extend longevity? Would not the creatures that live longer have a higher rate of reproduction? Thus the gene pool would favor those with a longer life span, thus passing that on to the species. That is a basic evolutionary tenet, n'est pa?

It's an accurate descriptor, and not bad for me because I didn't choose it as my religion. ;)

Good. Be proud of what you are.

You're talking about the government, not the country. The government was wisely designed to be secular. The country was founded on Judeo Christian moral values. And the American system of government was designed to work only for decent people.

When it comes to religious freedom and belief in creation or evolution it is all in the eye of the beholder. I believe God created me and all people; it is a "leap of faith" but I would rather be right now then wrong in the "end" when you come face to face with Him. It is a chance you take while you live out your live, but a remainder of all eternity in hell is not a proposition I am keen on; sorry I'm too white and burn easily.

For age of biblical elders it is an estimate that they lived very long lives due to our atmosphere being different. This is talked here: http://www.genesispark.com/exhibits/early-earth/atmosphere/ Makes the most sense to me.

As for evolution this is a simple test. If evolution was real - there currently isn't a link for species evolving currently around us; even for mild distinctive changes to occur over the past several thousands of years we would have record or proof of it. NOW, does evolution occur in other senses; yes of course it does. All different types of species whether plant or animals evolve to work around their environment. Perfect example is the British Peppered Moth, changed from pale colors to dark colors in a manner decades due to pollution. All because pale colors were becoming targeted by birds and dark colors survived thus dark moths became the majority. But I have yet to find a go between man and ape that would prove that we evolved from them.
