And the real encyclopedia states the written record started 3400 BC. How many cultures, that at times have have fought and killed each other with the fiercest devotion, have to disagree with the timeline in your book?

Most reasonable argument on this page.

I'm sorry, it's hard not to be with such a outrageous claim. I missed the other discussions about dinos, I would have chimed in then.

I see your point, and I wish you could see mine. And now you state, as if it is a fact, that it is outrageous, when in fact it is not.:D

Geez mpj2, you're too much like the old (former) me; gotta redirect your talent!;) I've got a meeting shortly, I'll check back in later if it's not too late. I'll also try and answer your question later J Bird, which is a most legit one I might add:)

Amazing. No wonder the US's education position in the world has been steadily eroding.

Evolution is a theory that has been so well established it is not a stretch to simply call it a fact. It is a theory as fundamental and provable as gravity.

Why did 'God' create 400,000 different species of beetle?
Or does that question bug you?

i think this is where "adaptation" came into play or what most would call evolution.

God created man and all the beasts and fowls of the air. However we have since "Evolved" and or what i like to call "adapted"

A beetle while there are for sure different types they all serve a purpose but just as humans beetles that live in different areas of the world have had to ADAPT to their surrondings, we as humans have to adapt to ours.

Look how over even the past few hundred years how humans have adapted with the use of technology

To a scientist, the answer to the question is easily explained by evolution and is further evidence of the validity of the theory. To a creationist, the fact of so many different species of beetle makes no sense at all, except to say, 'that's just the way He wanted it.'

BTW, human adaptation to surrounding is a completely different process than speciation and is an inapt analogy.

I agree that its a completely different process, however the basic point i was coming across with is species have adapted, the genetic makeup is strangely similiar across the board.....

He was a Jesuit and also a paleontologist and geologist, not an evolutionary biologist; but yes he rejected a literal interpretation of Genesis which got him into a bit of trouble with the Church.

I agree one can maintain one's Christian faith and also believe in evolution. Millions of Christians do. But it's inconsistent at best to believe in evolution and maintain the Bible is the inspired word of God and should be interpreted literally as if God herself wrote every word. Science aside, there are simply too many mistakes and inconsistencies in the Bible to honestly maintain that position.

Good one!!! bugs! I get it.
What kind of scientist? You shouldn't incenuate that 'all' scientists are evolutionists and believe this way. This is how people are endoctrined to think only your way. You just put Creationists against scientists. Those two go hand in hand.
