If you weigh 225 I would maybe think about a bigger bike?! I'm 165lbs and I ride a woods modified 08 YZ450. My wife rides a 250X, and I kind of find it underpowered...not bashing, it's a nice bike but the power of a 450 is great! I came off a YZ125, and I found the transition easy. Maybe a 400/450 KTM XC-W is in your future...just an idea.

I hear ya. I ended up buying my 450 from a guy who had only put 12 hrs on it, and had to go back to school. I got it for $4000, and it already had rad guards, and full skid plate. I put on an IMS 3.1 tank, a full Jardine pipe, and a larger rear sprocket (+2 over stock) and the bike is awesome. Power is real smooth, but still very strong, and works well almost everywhere. Suspension is a little stiffer than an off road bike, but still quite good, and I can use it on tight trails right up to the track. I did my homework, and the Yamahas are probably the most reliable 4 strokes (besides maybe KTM) and take to off road with a little modifications. Maybe check it out. Go to Thumpertalk.com and do some digging as well. I'm a big dirt bike nut, so if you have any questions, just let me know. Hope this helps :)
