For better context, I hit a deer a year ago. Im just finding out about this because the old dealer i used to use for service was a joke. I had horrible techs that would rarely do every service correctly let alone rotate my tires. So I took it to a new dealer for my 100k service. They pointed out (right away! May I add!!!) my crossmemebr was jacked all to hell. When I went to pick it up I had 2 service advisors and a tech approach me. They assured me everything was OK. But they had to ask me how the damage happened. None of them have ever seen anything like that in their 10+ years of experience. These cross members are made of very very strong forged steel to my knowledge. That's when it all clicked. It was on a flat bed after I hit a deer. It also went to and from the shop I took it to multiple times to be put on a frame rack. Can anyone help me out with affirming me that this was in fact not possible by a "rock" as my insurance adjuster is trying to say. I can tell he is trying to stay hands off because of this mess. I really could use some help or guidance. I'm trying to move 2k miles across the country in less than a month, and I also have a brand new suspension kit with fox 2.0 res rears jba uppers icon rxt leaf packs and brakes i need to install but now I have to figure this mess out!!. TIA fam.

Also I might add , if they denied your claim. I would call them back and tell them you dont feel safe driving your truck around with because of the structural integrity. If something where to happen becuase they denied your claim they can get sued.So its best they aprrove your claim

Rock damage would be dented in, pulling damage would be pulled out. A hit on a rock would likely cause an inward crease along with the dent.

this looks like it was run in to something much harder than a deer, but that's only from the pic, I am sure you can see a lot more in person.

If alignment if fine and your state doesn’t fail this on inspection, then then no need to worry.

Insurance would just deny to insure as it’s an unsafe vehicle. They could do that so I wouldn’t entertain that.

    Tow truck damage.
Indicative of being crushed by a constricting cable.

Thinking the same thing. Big fishhook hooked to crossmember to drag up the bed. I saw them do this to a buddy's vehicle they had to pull out of a ditch. The driver put the hook round the LCA and idler arm. Bent it all to hell. The tow truck driver probably thought it was totaled or didn't care and yanked it up the flatbed.

I'm assuming liability and how easy it would be for them to just say to bad so sad.

Not with Krown which I apply annually in the fall because of the salt we put on the roads

but that impact right there had nothing to do with the crushed section or towards the center.

    Apples and oranges……

Insurance says I have to open up another claim. But you damn well know they won't total it. They are gonna have me pay 250 for my deductible and they will cut it out and weld a new one in. I'm not ok with this at all as I'm still paying on it. Is it unreasonable to think that they should replace the frame?

He clearly doesn't understand how strong this forged steel has to be its a frame support. It's very very strong.... no way did I hit something that hard to have it intact this well, look at how there is no damage anywhere else on my truck.... I would of totaled the truck. I noticed it is very hard to get my alignment correct (after the accident.) Obviously a 100 lb deer didnt do this.

Did the wrecker yard have a front end loader with forks for moving vehicles? It looks like it may have come in too high and hit it with a fork tip.

Idk man I'm sick to my stomach. I'm suppose to move across the country in 4 weeks. 2300 miles and I have a brand new suspension kit to put on it. Because I'm moving to CO. I don't offroad it. I want to go to the shop but I feel like they are going to deny anything and everything. But I bet they're trucks are still equipped with the same chains. I'm wondering if it was damaged during the frame pulling or to and from.
