From the Knott Creek, there were other people camped in the camp sites on the other side. We probably could've gotten around but at the time we only had the diesel. That was two years ago right after they finished the pipeline

Ok, I haven't been that way since I was a real little kid. We can have different people lead. I am familiar with everything past Onion.
*except between 95 and Hinkey Summit and also Chimney Creek and Midas.

I go up there every year. In October 2012 I took both main roads to Onion and Knott and there were no washouts so they must have fixed it or we'e talking about a different year.

Father in law said the almanac says February is supposed to be really wet.

Sweet! The lady and I are getting married in VC in February and we've always hoped there would be a blizzard on the big day (sorry, off topic a bit).

My wife would not have been happy about snow on our wedding day. But it was outside in June...

Second night camp spot ideas? In looking at the map, I think we should be able to make some pretty good time on day two. It will be the lamest of the trip, after we get out of the Pine Forest mountains anyway. I think we might be able to make it all the way to Jack Creek and stay there, or even a little further and find a spot on Maggie Creek summit.

Once again, wish I could help with the planning. Just don't know the far north well enough to suggest a camp site.

I was over both this past summer. I think Jack Creek will be good for camp on night 2. We will have to leave Onion fairly early and may be pulling into Jack kind of late.

Monkey, I'm not sure on miles. Reno to wendover on I80 is 397 miles. This will be more, I would say 450-500 miles from Reno back to the freeway between Wells and Wendover.

Thats why I think I am going to skip out on Moab. I really want to go, but I would rather do this trip. I'll make it a point to hit moab next year though.

I've been thinking about the fuel issue, or lack of. There will be fuel for sure in Gerlach(day1), Orvada(day2), and Jackpot(day4). Denio is a few miles out of the way on day 2, but I was through there last September, they didnt have fuel because they needed the tanks replaced. I suppose I could call them and find out if they were replaced. I dont know if there is fuel in Paradise Valley. Owyhee(day3) also has fuel, but they are about 30 miles out of the way. I would think packing 15 gallons each should be ok. My Dad said we might be able to put a 55 gallon drum in Midas, we kind of know the people that own a bar there and he thinks they would let us store it there for a few weeks. That would expensive to buy, and get out there before hand, and pick up afterwards.
    Thoughts?

Yeah, last September I was through Denio, no fuel. I was planning on taking a left in Paradise toward chimney creek. We could go to the highway to get fuel I suppose, depending on how people are sitting.
