We kept a log of the trip, so here is a trip report. Kind of.
Day one started at 915A, arrived at camp at 715P, covered 221 miles. Mostly washboarded gravel roads. Toward the end we climbed some elevation on some cool two tracks toward camp for the first night.

Day two was a long day. Left camp at 730A, covered 297 miles of high elevation two track roads, a road dubbed "dustiest road in America" some high speed gravel, a washed out section, and even a closed road. Not to worry, there was a bypass. We even got to stop into one of my favorite places for one of the best burgers I've ever had. This day we had our only issue of the trip. Sam had tire troubles. On with the spare, and on with our trip! We arrived in camp at 10P. No fire, no chatting, just bed. Covered 297 miles.

Day three was my favorite, it was a slow meandering day mostly all done above 7k feet. We left camp at 9A, got into the trees and seemed like we never got out of them. I took a wrong turn and ended up having to turn around in some less than friendly ranchers driveway, my bad. Got back headed the right direction and got into town/camp at 430P. Had a few beers at the bar, got camp set up and just hung out. Covered 127 miles.

Day four we left camp at 915A, and headed up. It is a long steep pull to get out of camp, from around 6k' IIRC up to around 8500' and into the snow. Just two weeks ago this route was impassable due to snow drifts. They don't plow until the week before the 4th of July, so luckily it was open or we would have had to backtrack. Dropped down into the valley and stayed pretty low the rest of the trip. I think we were all pretty beat by this time, so the going was fast, and the stopping wasn't near as often. We arrived at our destination at 345P, covering 154 miles to there. Everyone got aired up, and we were back on the road headed home by 430.

From border to border was 798.6 miles. Total from my house to my house was 1242 miles. Fuel stops were spaced well, I never HAD to dip into my cans, but used them on the last day to get home so they were empty.

All in all I had a great time. I couldn't have asked for better company, or better weather. It was a CA border to UT border, but as an added bonus, we also hit the NV/OR border, and the NV/ID border, even driving into ID for a few miles. Hope to do it again sometime. There were a few places I had never been that I would definitely like to explore more.

Now enough of my rambling, pictars!! These are some highlights from day two.

Think it will just sluff off?
[IMG]IMG_1114 by flyin' B photography, on Flickr

This wasn't a bad spot, but I'm not armored up enough, and this was not a place to have issues. I took the bypass.
[IMG]IMG_1121 by flyin' B photography, on Flickr

    As did Sam
[IMG]IMG_1127 by flyin' B photography, on Flickr

Matt however, has a much too bad ass truck to take any bypass.
[IMG]IMG_1136 by flyin' B photography, on Flickr

    Draggin his ass.
[IMG]IMG_1139 by flyin' B photography, on Flickr

And this thing is built like a tank, so he don't bypass either.

Finally blew the motor at 230,000, sprung for a Jasper with 100,000/3 year warranty. The birdpig has a new set of wings! OME heavy load lift kit, Dakar leafs w/AAL, frame mounted energy suspension 4.5" bumpstops, 882 coils, nitrocharger sport shocks, trail gear sliders, addicted offroad front bumper, KC 130w daylighters, Warn M8000, 31" BFG KM2's, custom dents and Nevada pinstripes.
Daaamn! Looks like a successful mission. Glad everybody made it through safely. 1200+ miles with only one flat (and properly shredded) tire says a lot about everybody's skills and equipment. If you all had to pick a favorite spot to set up a base camp for a few days of camping and wheeling... Let's hear it. Least buggy, best for shade, shooting, maybe some fishing and swimming. Even though we live in the driest state in the country, during a drought...where would you choose to visit again as a destination?
