You could get a passenger side (or driver side depending on your coax run) tailgate antenna mount. That would put your antenna up a couple feet higher than mine and probably get better distances. I had originally planned to do that and have a BAMF antenna mount on my driver side but switched to the tire gate mount with the new bumper. I did keep the BAMF mount for a flag though, if I ever needed to use one.

I know a few vendors here make them, or you could fab your own.

Or, get one of those and just use a 9ft coax :)

Would this be open to members from other areas? I can't commit fully to it, but would love to do it if it works out. All depends on if you guys are willing to have me along

I'm eyeing this trip as well, but there are a ton of variables right now that could interfere.

I will vouch for the NV folks that I have met, good group of people. Just be careful driving around Nathan as he likes to attract nails :p

there is a fairly large grove of trees just a few miles past. Only issue is that lake up top. Like you said earlier we won't get through that if theres any water at all.

This looks great. How long would this take?

It's a good 12-14 hours to the start for me and who knows how long from the finish line.

Gerlach to the Mucc can be done in a day if you want topush it. Everything else maybe 2 days? Overall I would say 3-4 days depending how fast we go.
Someone correct me if I am wrong

Not being familiar with that area, if there is too much water, how far out of the way would another route be?

I was thinking 4 days. Start out of Reno thursday morning, end up in Montello Sunday, which is just north of I80 between Wells and Wendover.

Finally blew the motor at 230,000, sprung for a Jasper with 100,000/3 year warranty. The birdpig has a new set of wings! OME heavy load lift kit, Dakar leafs w/AAL, frame mounted energy suspension 4.5" bumpstops, 882 coils, nitrocharger sport shocks, trail gear sliders, addicted offroad front bumper, KC 130w daylighters, Warn M8000, 31" BFG KM2's, custom dents and Nevada pinstripes.
One factor with a caravan out there is the washboard. You have to go fast or it's brutal, so that means keeping tons of distance between rigs, or driving blind in a dust storm. The CBs would be a plus in those conditions. The creek in high rock canyon can be impassable too. Send the snorkel first and winch the others across if need be.
