Cross threaded differential fill plug!

    So it ended up being a very rare stripped plug. I was able to back her out with a lot of elbow grease and patience :bananadance:. I cleaned up the threads real well, dropped the new fluid and put in replacement with a brand new plug (that I asked for on the first visit to the dealership). Been three weeks and no leaks!... well.. now my front diff is leaking. But that's another story :bananadead:.

    I didn't have to use liquid gasket either which I'm grateful for, but good call. I used it for another project :thumbsup:

    Locking pliers, slowely pull, turn it out. Chase the threads with the correct tap, chase the threads on the new one to clean it up, before trying to screw it in.

    I knew a guy in high school that somehow lost his, put in a 5/8" bait well type rubber snap-shut plug. Worked well.

    Sliders, Tailgate Liner
    Teflon tape works well. I've been using it for decades without a problem. I think it helps keep the plug from being so difficult to remove as well. I even use it when doing my oil changes.
