I had the new door seals installed yesterday. I don't yet know if this will fix the crosswind noise, but I hope so. They're nearly identical to the originals in appearance and feel, but they have a ~1/8" rubber bead glued into the leading edge. It runs about halfway down the A pillar and about 1/3 of the way back on the upper edge of the door.

Does the door require more force to shut now?

Also, can you tell us the part numbers noted on your warranty repair sheet? This way members can buy their own parts to install.

No, it takes no additional force to close the doors. Everythjng feels and looks the same as it did before, aside from the rubber bead on the leading and top edges. It might be slightly more quiet while driving, but I might attribute that to seals being new and not 3 years old. The difference is not remarkable.

I'll update with comments when I get myself into a crosswind on the interstate.

That's effing hilarious. It is completely nd4spdbh's fix! Well I'll stick with my EPDM foam strip and save myself a trip to the dealer for the official version of the fix.

Thanks for sharing the photos and detail on the fix. Good they got around to the TSB and a fix. Also good to know for those out of warranty that $10 and 10 min with a trip to Home Depot will do the job as well!

I bought my own from camelback Toyota. Cost about 150 for the set. I still get the kazoo noise and I can change it by pushing on the windshield so I'm guessing that's my problem area. I had 37,000 miles on my truck and my local dealer wouldn't cover it

I once found a fix for the CC module locking up on a 1989 Eagle Premier, when the radio was turned on in heavy rain. EMI from the antenna motor was radiating into the body and glitching the CC module's computer. At first I installed a heavier ground strap from the antenna motor to the chassis--and it got worse--removing the strap fixed it.

Submitted a write-up to the dealer and mailed one to Chrysler; they paid me $250...

I had 80k but I complained about it back in 2012 at 150 ish miles. They covered it. Tsb wasn't released until 2016.

OP here. Just to update-- the new seals fixed the problem. I've probably driven 2000+ miles on the windy SD/ND/MN interstates since the new seals were installed. I haven't heard the cross-wind kazoo a single time. Success.

Go get yer new seals, fellas.

I think they're like $70 each. Expensive, I do know that. I got mine free under warranty.

Update: the new seals have totally eliminated the kazoo crosswind noise.

I have this on my 2015 that I purchased on my 2015 just over a week ago. We heard it on my test drive. It was a super windy day, and it happened at around 80-85 mph. Heard it again on my trip back from Tennessee this weekend. Again, around 80-85 mph with gusty winds.

I have just under 20k miles. I should be covered under warranty?

I like this part on the document:
Cause: DEFORMED seal. Like the owner or daily opening and closing the door caused it to he damaged.
Shouldn't it be: SHITTY DESIGN AND MATERIAL.

The other fix that has had great success and is in one of the other related threads is 1/8 drip irrigation tube. I have at least 100 ft in the shed, but I always forget about this problem until the odd occasion when it happens.

So, an update on the Kazoo band residing in my truck...

They day after I picked it up from the local dealer for them to check it out, after them telling me I that my warranty is out by less than a month and they need me to authorize a $125 "diagnostic fee" for them to confirm what the noise is (I wouldn't), I called them back to talk to the manager. Well, that guy must never work because I've tried to talk to him 3 times now, but I did talk to someone higher that just the service guy at the desk. He said they would only charge the $125 if they had to dig into the issue further to find out the cause, not just to have someone ride with me and listen for the noise. Well gee, that makes a lot of since, I wish they would have said that from the beginning.

Just so happens, the next morning was pretty windy and I had the morning off for a dentist appointment. I decided to buzz by the dealership on the highway to see if I could make it buzz. Sure enough, as soon as I passed the dealer, going about 75, the Kazoo band started playing their tune. I went into the dealer and they got someone to ride with me. Service guy was really cool, and confirmed and agreed that the noise is related to the TSB. They sent me on the way and said someone would give me a call and let me know if they will cover it or not. A few hours later I got a call saying they would cover it as a one time as a good will service. Scheduled the work to be done at 7:00 Friday morning, as I had that day off as well.
I got there, and after 10 minutes of waiting in the lobby the guy comes out and apologetically tells me that he forgot to order the seal :annoyed:. I was too frustrated to even try to talk them into a free oil change or something, so I just rescheduled for today. Got a call a few minutes ago and its done. I'll update when I pick up this evening.
