Ok, I’ve thrown every pot n pan at my husband so now I’ll turn to you all for answers (which I should have done from the start)
2012 taco V6. Battery died in garage out of the blue. Went to Sam’s, picked up a new one. Hubby (step aside little lady, let a man do it) crossed the friggin terminal wires reinstalling battery. Horn went crazy!!! Fixed terminals but noticed battery too tall for bracket. Long story short, returned and purchased proper sized battery, CORRECTLY installed it; truck won’t start, radio dead, windows won’t roll down, entire dash lit up including tire pressure and 4x4 lights……. (poor little dead man my husband is.) I checked fuses but those big blocky ones are out of my age bracket. I don’t even know how to pull them out. What have “we” fried?

If you're lucky, you just nailed the big blocky fuses and relays. If you're unlucky, the ECU.

There are ways to check those if you want to attend the universities of Google and YouTube. It might be worth getting a multimeter and testing. Otherwise, I'm afraid it's time to tow it to a reputable mechanic.

Thank you; that’s what I did. They’re replacing entire fuse box ($515 bf tax) school of hard knocks.

Ouch. If it gives any comfort, you're not nearly the first one to do that nor will you be the last (or let's say the less-than-better half wasn't the first one to do that.) And when it comes to reversed polarity oopsies, 5 bills is a less expensive than average lesson, at least.
