I think the judges course is $10. It takes anywhere from 1-3 hours. It can be tricky.

10 bucks and a test online, not sure if u even have to be level 1 or not i got thru the whole test in like an hour the final test u have to watch a few videos and count the no reps and and you don't have multiple choice options, thats was a little tricky but the rest was easy

FINALLY got 285 on my clean last night. I've had some weird hip issues holding me back, so this felt awesome! Went for a double because the first when felt really good. Bumped it out a little too far.

Pulled 455 yesterday morning. That was a PR for me. Next on my list is 475. I want to hit 500 by the end of the year. Shouldn't be a problem.

455 is my max right now too! You should have any problem hitting 500 by the end of the year, if, of course, that's your goal.

i need to work on my power lifts. endurance WODs are my specialty, my back squat is only 325, my deadlift is only 375, bench press 225 and my push jerk is only 225 :( haha but surprisingly my oly lifts are pretty good considering how low my power lifts are. 190# hang snatch and 250# power clean

I am the exact opposite. I can lift heavy, but my conditioning is pretty poor. I'm working on it though. Double Unders this morning!

Ok question for all the coaches... Both boxes I have been going to said when I got my level 1 cert they'd allow me to shadow the current coaches for a bit then move up to coaching my own class. Both boxes have now told me that I need to leave the coaching to the " actual " coaches. .. which one place is letting a non certified chick coach. What the "actual" fuck?! How did y'all break that threshold from client to coach?

Personally, I was just a natural fit for being a coach at my box. I got my L1, started shadowing, and eventually got to fly solo. We have had a couple guys who we initially thought could be good coaches, but they ended up just not working out. You may just not be a good fit at whichever box. Or they may just not need another coach right now, and don't have a tactful way of saying it.

As far as the non certified coach, I'd stay away from that box anyways. That's just not the right way of doing things.

in my opinion this goes for everyone, whether your coaching or not if you enjoy crossfit and can cough up the 1000 dollars for the L1 seminar do it, not only is it a great learning experience its a lot of fun, i did mine at norcal crossfit with jason Khalipa, pat barber, adrian bozman, (that older guy who runs one of the original xfit gyms in santa cruz, I'm forgetting his name lol) and some other people where there helping out like garret fisher and miranda oldryod....im not coaching just cuz I'm at school full time and am making good enough cash at my part time job in between. but my major is exercise science and I'm finishing both my ISSA and NASM personal training certs right now and i have to admit i learned more from that 120 page L1 book and the weekend seminar than i have at college taking KINE classes and doing my other CPT certs

excuse my spelling i hate typing novels on my iPhone lol

perfectly said, thats why crossfit gets a bad rep is because boxes do stuff like that.

That would've been an awesome cert! I did mine in Lexington, KY with Austin Malleolo, James Hobart, Joe DeGain, Maggie Dabe, and a couple others. It was an awesome learning experience! Very eye-opening for me.

Yeah, I've heard they've already gotten in trouble with HQ about it once, yet they still use her. I have no desire to go back to that box for numerous reasons such as the owner not keeping accurate record or issuing receipts then claiming people aren't paid up, starting a "women only" class at 630p MWF, but not offering a later class for those who don't get off early enough to make the earlier classes, completely ignoring form and not having a a proper on-ramp/beginners class, and having plenty of money to make an aquaponics garden instead of paying the coaches or getting/fixing equipment.

I have no problem coaching, the whole USMC thing kinda groomed me as a leader and a year in Afghanistan as a training instructor helped bring that experience to the civilian world, but they are still not letting me shadow, which is kinda shitty. The box I moved to has a new coach, but the owner has said that he doesn't have faith enough to let him teach a complex/advanced class.

It's just irritating I guess. I talked to one of my friends who is a coach and she recommended finding somewhere that I can come in as a beginner coach and shadow without being there as a client. I just don't feel it's right to have to go to a second gym to do it.

This thread looks a little dead, but I will phish it I guess....

Does anyone hear deal in the buying of rigs and racks for crossfit? My roommate and I have begun making rigs for our local crossfit, and found that we can beat Rouge's prices by 15-33% by allowing simpler custom options that are less labor intensive compared to all the holes Rouge includes for adjustability. I also leave off the fluff that costs extra money. My main concern is strength and durability.

I guess what I'm wondering is if there is a market for this stuff outside of Ames, Iowa? If there is I would invest in some new equipment to make these kits fly out the door. I could also work on my pricing too. I already get a favorable fedex discount and fastenal ships pretty cheap.
