It’s possible the inspector is also an idiot. I feel like this issue would have come up more. Then again 99% of these lifts are in Hawaii :)

Game the system, everyone else does.

    Exemptions and Exclusions…

A vehicle driven fewer than 5,000 miles during the 12-month period immediately preceding the inspection can qualify for an exemption sticker if you have owned the vehicle for one year or more. Just take your vehicle to an inspection station to verify your mileage and apply for an exemption sticker. Stations may charge a fee for an exemption. Also, if you have a new vehicle titled and registered for the first time and driven fewer than 5,000 miles, you can apply for an exemption sticker valid until the next inspection is due. Motorcycles are excluded from the emissions inspection program, as are vehicles registered as classics, antiques, collectibles, street rods or specially constructed.

like any other big GOV intervention, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. There are some real POS's out there, that are a danger to others, not just the derelict driving it. Of course what started as verifying functioning lights and tires with tread, have become complex and profitable system for them. Remember when you give them power and money,,,, you never get it back and there is very good chance they will be coming for more.

    rant off

A mild 5100 lift/level shouldnt raise any flags as it has spawned the TRD lift kit marketed by Toyota using identical components . But going higher than that may raise some eyebrows in that respect.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.

I'm not even sure he can do that. I believe (at least in Colorado) a used vehicle must pass inspection prior to sell there are signs up about it all over the smog/inspection places.

Again, which state are you in? It’s hard to provide any useful feedback without knowing which rules we’re trying to bend.
In the Northeast, inspections help keep some of the “rusted beyond recognition” rigs off the road, ie frames that bend on the lift and brake lines that burst under pressure. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my fair share of work-arounds, but some folks do need protection from themselves.

Perhaps OP was just trolling here...

I suspect it had been failed to mentioned that, aside from the 4" drop bracket lift in the front and the 20x10 wheels, that OP actually installed a 4" lowering kit in the rear

inspection was denied due to current carolina squat situation

What are these inspections you speak of? It must be specific to the state you live in. There are plenty of trucks with drop bracket lifts driving around my state.

This is all so asinine. There's nothing magic about a Toyota frame or any chassis for that matter. A home mechanic or lift kit manufacturer is more than capable of modifying and/or repairing a factory frame in a way that is just as sound as OEM. In fact, it would be easy to improve upon.

I'll pass on being protected from myself by people who think they know what's good for me. These kinds of regulations are unnecessary overreach. On the flip side, if you screw up and negligently hurt someone, you are at fault and should be punished.

In most states there are laws that let you get a title for a rebuilt or reconstructed vehicle after getting it through some kind of general inspection. It no longer is the original vehicle, but a new unique vehicle. I would check on that route if the state is giving you this much gripe.

NC has a 6" limit on lift for passenger cars but there are no suspension regulations on trucks and vehicles modified for offroad use.

When you read this does this talk about rust hacks to get inspected, not talking about modifications, that are not allowed or allowed

On the flip side, so few folks turn wrenches these days and have any idea of what some mods will do. Too many just buy what a dealer or 4WP has on the shelf with no serious question asked other than "Will it be level?". The things that folks today don't even care to know is staggering. Pretty sad.

Thanks for coming back! What state are you in?

I'm sorry, but this part is the full reason. Nothing about rust / corrosion. Just a plain cut. You'd have to prove that the Drop Bracket is an OEM or Industry Standard. What does that Industry Standard link say?
