I took a hit from a smooth rock a few weeks ago on my 2nd crossmember just aft of the oil pan. I'm not worried, should I be? It would be easy to weld a support plate across the dent.

Don't let the dealership see it as they will document it as frame damage. I would fix it personally.

I would get the alignment checked at minimum.

I'd touch up the paint to stop it from rusting and forget about it.

Maaaaan you wanna see a cross member dent? I fell a solid 6" and landed on a pointy rock. I slipped off a wet rock onto it.

To answer your question, no nothing bad will happen if you do nothing, but it wouldn't hurt to paint that exposed steel.

I put a similar dent in mine about 50k miles ago. I kinda forgot about it until just now. Never fixed it but maybe I should go do some touch up paint on it

These replies have pleased me. Im glad to know the truck wont fold in half the next time I hit a speed bump. Cleaned up, painted, and moving on with life. Will check alignment.

    Thanks all.
