I have been reading that it is simple to add cruise to a non cruise my question not to sound stupid but I don't see where there is any modification under the hood how is this possible my 2010 Access Cab did not come with cruise control and I find it hard to believe that all you have to do is add the switch at the steering column and that's it.

I'm almost certain that is exactly what you do. The hook up is in the steering column and already wired to the computer.

For further explanation it's easier for Toyota to have one major wiring harness vs. several. Plus cruise is managed by the computer entirely and isn't a "fly by wire" system.

Believe my friend, believe! When God handed down the Ten Commandments there was one so important that it was not even written. Though shall pre wire Tacomas for cruise control! So it was done!

PS if it is a manual you will need an upper clutch switch, the wire for it is already there though per the unwritten commandment.
