Hey guys, so ever since I bought my 03 tacoma I've never been able to make my cruise work. I first noticed it while on a semi-long drive when trying to engage it nothing happened. No lights on the dash... nothing... I couldn't get anything to indicate that the cruise control was on. It hasn't ever been a problem because I haven't driven longer than say an hour and a half but now that I will have to drive 3 plus hours to school, it might be helpful. Any ideas of what this might be? I have checked the fuses already and everything checks out.

Mine hasn't gone out totally but on a drive to indiana recently up a very steep hwy mountain road, Mine cut out completley and the truck just bogged down.
Pulled over to the side of the road. Took a few times to restart but finally did.
Had no problems with it since.

Try this before you try to engage your cruise control reach your left foot under the clutch pedal and pull up on it, mine does the same thing its either due to a week return spring
or maybe clutch master cylinder, basically the switch that would shut down cruise control when you engage the clutch is not completely released.

Great! I'll order one and post how it goes. Also, probably should've mentioned that my truck is an auto

My Tacoma is doing the same. The cruise light on the dash will come on but won't work when I try to set it.

My light doesn't even come on at all. Zero functionality. Working on another mod right now so this is kind of being delayed.

if the light doesnt even come on most likely it is not the clutch position switch unless also that light was out but not likely.

Thanks! This is definitely what is wrong with mine. I was driving and went to press the button and it popped almost all the way out of the lever. I pushed it back in, but it hasn't worked since.

Just like above pull the clutch up after you press the button, my 2000 does the something, just needs a new spring but its too much hassle for just lifting my foot up

Yeah, pretty close to what happened to mine. I pushed the button and heard a pop like the plastic inside broke. Next thing I knew, cruise light would not come on.

OK, I'm having an issue with my Cruise Control activating.

I just had to replace the "Stop Light Switch" second one I have had to put in. I could not get my truck out of park without pushing the shifter release button. Also found that my break lights were not coming on.

$24 later and I have a new "Stop Light Switch" but I can't get my Cruise Control to engage. If I come to a stop and push on my break pedal and then hit the CC button the green indicator light comes on, but as soon as I start rolling the green CC light flashes on and off.

I saw something out here about LED lights that might cause the problem from week voltage or something. I had to replace my license plate lights with LED ones like on a motorcycle but I think I have used my CC since then without issue.

I think it has something to do with the "Stop Light Switch" any suggestions would be helpful, rolling from Phoenix to Yellowstone next week and CC is great to have in Utah.

OK, I found the root cause of my problem. The guy at the parts store gave me a "Stop Light Switch" WITHOUT the cruise control pins.

When I came back in I said is it possible that there are (2) versions of the "Stop Light Switch" maybe one with CC pins. He said "no" but lets look it up. Sure enough the kid sold me the wrong part a few days earlier. A quick swap and boom, CC is working fine.

Hmm...interesting. I've never seen that before. Good to know, thanks for sharing.
