    Need some help-long story short is I love using cruise control but my 2011 Taco I just bought doesn’t have it, so...I bought the Rostra aftermarket kit and attempted to have it installed (professionally) and 3 separate units later, I still don’t have it. Rostra thought the first two were just a bad batch, so they sent a new unit from their factory-installers still couldn’t get it to work-and they’re pros.

    Does anyone know of another, non-cabled cruise control manufacturer besides Rostra? I can’t find anything on the Internet.

    Just to clarify, my 2009 base didn’t have cruise control and I just bought the cruise switch and plugged it into the clock spring. Are you sure you can’t do the same before messing with aftermarket units?

    You may not be pre-wired. I'm not and in order to get mine to work I have to send a wire to ecm. I haven't done it yet

    I’m going through the same dilemma with my 08. There is a cruise/nom cruise version of the clock spring available and I’ve wondered if maybe that was the only change I needed. Maybe someone else has figured that part out Its just a luxury I haven’t been able to get around to yet.

    Do you have steering wheel controls? If so, I believe you should have the correct clock spring

    That's what us motorcycle guys have had to do until recently when bikes started coming with throttle-by-wire. I've got a clamp that holds the throttle tube at a fixed position and rests against the brake lever.

    It's better than nothing but really only works if you live somewhere relatively flat.

    I do not. It’s just a base model prerunner with a v6. Manual everything.

    It was done, but the idiot who installed it broke a couple of plastic trim panels, the clockspring, and wheel position sensor in the process...

    @tacosoaring

    I had H&R Radio in Warminster, Pennsylvania do it, and I would not recommend them; The idiot who installed it broke the clockspring and the wheel position sensor, which kept the cruise control from working, and they fed me this bullshit about it having to be programmed by the dealer. I brought it to my local dealer and they discovered that the aforementioned parts were damaged; H&R refused to own up to its mistake and I had to pay for the damage they caused. My mechanic replaced the parts and the cruise control fired right up; The cruise control works for the most part but every once in a while it won't engage...

    To be quite honest, I probably would not do it again if I had the choice!
